    It might not be obvious to the (young) person coming across such a work for the first time. That is why they are encouraging the parents to help their kid place it the context of the time it was written. It preserves the entirety of the books ideas but warns parents there might be ideas, views etc that might need some discussion. I can't see how it's a bad idea.

    It says he was fined for carrying a knife that he uses for work. If he was using it at work or going too or from work he would not have been fined because he would not have been breaking the law. The knife was returned because it had a legitimate purpose. He was fined because he did not have a legitimate reason for carrying it when he was stopped. It only sounds ridiculous if you don't actually read it properly.

    You can carry a damn machete in the U.K if it has a legitimate purpose. However having a knife for work is only legit if you are carrying too/from/during work. You can't just have it all the time even if it has a legit purpose. Also he is a dumbass, had he been carrying a normal Stanley knife not a lock knife it would have been fine, they work exactly the same way.

    Just before it is dropped I got to say the 'diversity quota' you see when you look that image looks basically like my uni DnD group. Apart from our DM transitioned halfway through, it's missing a gay Jewish couple and we had two hijab-wearing Muslim regulars. Just because it does not reflect your personal experience doesn't mean that it doesn't reflect other people's. It's pretty pernicious to suggest that showing a range of people enjoying a game together is somehow fake or objectionable....

    I always thought it was kind of rich for Americans to take another countries tradition and look at it through the lense of their own history with black minstrel shows. After all that is what makes dressing up dark like that worse than dressing as anything else.
