    Well I've read all these damn things on my phone and I'm trying to type up reviews and frankly I'm a bit frustrated. I always do my reviewing as a "stream of consciousness" style review and add my thoughts as I go. Not doing that is screwing with me. If I haven't managed by lunch then you'll just all have to get my reviews late and I won't get to vote, since we do want to tally up.

    Okay I read a few of these earlier when I was out and made notes - going to try and get my reviews up and finish the rest of them off. I'll be tallying in the morning since I'll be finishing my own reviews close to the deadline, so that gives everyone a grace period.

    There's talk of accepting a few more - send them to @Rahkesh Asmodaeus ASAP and cross your fingers? No promises as I'm not involved in the posting of stories but I agree that things ended in an unexpected way? I think we just had a miscommunication - again, no promises, but if your story was truly already about finished then it's worth a try (even if it isn't accepted for posting).

    It is expected that the story can stand alone. One past winning entry was done almost prologue style. It had no issues standing alone and most also considered it complete, but it could clearly have led into more.

    Probably not flash, no - that'd be too short, and likely a 2-day (48-hour) competition. People probably want more than that given this popularity, and flash might be frustratingly short. If this happens I'll make a new thread for it in a week or two once we have Q2 off to a solid start.

    I think it closes April 4th @ 7:16 AM Central. My screen says 7:16 AM anyway, and I know that's not my current time zone, so probably my home one. Or thereabouts. Personally I'm hoping Azkaban wins. Then we can do that one for Q2 and run an extra, shorter competition for Daphne (not flash, because people are really into this idea, but shorter & quicker).

    Honestly the entire reason I started to trying to figure out what we knew about Daphne from canon is that I don't know much about her in fanon either. The only Harry/Daphne I've ever read that I remember is the Downward Spiral saga, in which she was a terrifying murderer who made horcruxes along with a Harry who was Voldemort's right hand man.     I consider the books to be canon and nothing else, personally. Information from JKR or the movies, to me, are secondary canon. A step above fanon, of course, but not quite there. Regardless whenever we end up writing about Daphne I'll probably include a write-up about what's in the books, what's from JKR/movies, and a link to the ice-queen trope or whatever people usually use for her.

    I'll try... but then I've tried to enter every time so far. Completed stories are at 1 - the Harry discovers why Albus doesn't drink one - but it's a clusterfuck and nowhere near edited enough even for WbA. My fully outlined and half-written entries are also at 1 - and that one started as an entry for You're Bleeding on my Floor and then morphed into an entry for Death. I will be finishing that one soon, I hope, and posting in WbA. ...but I swear I tried to write for the others too......

    Is there any canon information on what Daphne even looks like? Does she have any speaking lines in canon? I feel like 99% of what I know about Daphne is either from JKR's notes (things like 28 families) or fanon and not from canon. Edit: Looking it up online seems to provide three pieces of information from canon, which are that (1) She was sorted into Slytherin, (2) she's pureblood, and (3) she took her OWLs at the same time as Hermione. Harry hires Seamus Finnegan, legendary tracker, to trace her steps back a week before she was captured trying to break INTO Azkaban for an unknown reason. They then use the Time Knife to go back in time and prevent her capture while helping her with her original mission.
