    It's funny, they massacred one of the best bits about the pile that is the series (Fares Fares was a superb casting choice and I could really see him as Book Ishamael) with Poochie...no wait I mean Egwene. Who I had to mention because all characters should constantly be all about her all the time. It's garbage. This is even true regardless of the books as show don't tell is a thing. In show, there is literally no reason why anyone cares about the Dragon...

    This is definitely an improvement on S1. Elayne is great, New Mat is pretty good, Rand is finally doing something though not enough tbh. The Seanchan are Texan which is great. And of course, Fares Fares who is just beyond fantastic. OTOH Alanna is clearly in it way too much, feels like a wee bit of nepotism, still way too much Egwene, Perrin sucks so much and Lan, what they did to him will echo as treachery through the ages. Also the costuming etc remains hot garbage and I hate it so so so...

    If they steal Tarwins Gap from Rand that is shit - especially if they go for some, 'they are all the Dragon together' stupidity. Maybe it's Egwene and Nynaeve protecting everyone from unclaimed saidin? That's the best possible interpretation imo...please let it be that or something.

    Then the broach should be nicer because he made the damn thing and is a blacksmith. As for the fur, I don't necessarily object to it being there (for him, Nynaeve's dress is a travesty), but the sheer amount. There's just so much. Motifs are great, but please, do them well.

    Genuine question here, how and why? Because to me, Lan is baby's first samurai, the Whitecloaks don't have any armor or proper cloaks, the show generally hates colour (seriously the Tinkers should be bright, hell traffic cone orange and neon green was popular in the 14th century so it's super possible) and for some reason all the wholesome farmboy characters seem allergic to white shirts? Plus the weird cast iron broach and huge fur cuffs for Perrin... It's all super generic. The Aes Sedai...

    This is fine and completely misses why I (and I think many others) didn't like the episode. First, like I've said before the set design/costuming sucks. The Whitecloaks look like something that came out of the back of my cats. They aren't even wearing proper cloaks - this continues as a theme like the unnecessary leather and fur trim etc. That brings down every episode thus far because it's a stupid trope that needs to die in a fire in any show.     I don't even know. As its own thing that episode was bad. As a WoT episode, it was really bad. I liked Loial's lines? Keeping on at Rand while he walked away, great. But if you're going to cut loads of stuff from the early books, why the hell are we replacing it with the funeral of some rando? Why not have Lan develop his arc in a useful way? Interacting with the ta'veren? Forcing Rand to obsess about mountains and feathers? The Whitecloaks and Egwene etc...it reeks of the forced misery...

    Fair I guess. What's your favourite book? For me...I don't know, I love The Shadow Rising - Rhuidean is just such a turning point but also maybe A Crown of Swords because it hits a bunch of consistent highs for me. Obviously the worst is Crossroads of Twilight, the book that did not need to be.

    Don't really disagree with much of the post, but men absolutely can feel women holding the power - Rand notices Egwene and Elayne in Book 3, the Asha'man in Book 6 & 7 can feel the Aes Sedai prisoners at Dumai's Wells when they embrace saidar. They can't see the weaves or be certain of who, but they definitely know when women are holding/using saidar. Speaking of which, reading through again is great. Planning on skipping Crossroads of Twilight, but having a blast thus far. Really seeing...

    I just wish they'd dare to do something new. It's all perfectly within the constraints of the modern fantasy show. Everything is in a dark palette. The minstrel plays a faux lute (give Thom the harp please). A days walk covers your face in mud. Leather to the max. Most characters wear weird boots that just look wrong. The mysterious master warrior has a Katana. One of the characters arcs revolves around killing a woman immediately. Just dare to be original. Do something new. It feels like,...

    For me, one of things that really made sense of the series was finding some of Jordan's words about his time in Vietnam. The whole gender role thing makes way more sense when you read it through the lens of a man who spent much of his youth door gunning in a Huey and tried to reconcile machine gunning people with what he'd been taught. E; In one of the interviews I remember him saying he shot a Vietcong in the back, realised it was a woman later and it just screwed his head up.

    IIRC there was mention that they were cutting Thom? Which sucks because he provides a non-Two Rivers non Moiraine viewpoint in the first book and his sacrifice fighting the Myrdraal at Shadar Logoth is really cool. Him not being there also sucks because it shoots Mat's bit in Book 3 in the nuts and ruins the Tower of Ghenej and Moraine's resurrection. Just not good all round. The focus on Egwene also annoys me because I never liked her character. She is taught by literally the greatest Aes...

    The look of those Trollocs worries me. Big time. I think what we're going to get are crummy CGI orcs with animal skull helmets, not the hybrids described in the books. Hopefully the cast can pull it out, Rosamund Pike has always been a great choice for Moiraine IMO. Also super looking forward to Zen-Jesus-Dragon Rand at the end if it ever goes that far. Also hope it isn't too GoT influenced because I didn't like that show very much anyway and clones are always worse.
