    ...yes, really. Really really. I expect to see a plethora of Harry/Ginny fics.

    @Jon or @Xiph0 - can we get an announcement with the basic info from the first post? The topic (Romance) and deadline (Dec 18) are the most important bits, I think.

    As for what Romance means... here's a quote from me in IRC a few days ago:
    It'll also be interesting to see if people want to define "romance" - because I think of it as being a love story, whether it's a new couple or a couple that's been together for years, whether or not it's got any 'sex appeal' or not.​

    And that's my opinion. But that may or may not be other peoples opinions, etc. To me, Romance is not Smut. Romance does not have to be at the start of a relationship, it can be the end or the entirety.

    But ultimately the stories will be judged in part on how they incorporate the prompt (Romance). So long as your definition of Romance isn't a full standard deviation outside of the norm I imagine you won't get docked for your take on it.

    Nice. I've turned around on the whole Harry/Ginny thing. Now I think it's kind of spicy. I have a few ideas about this one actually, but I need to narrow it down to something that will work. Story Grid to the rescue.

    Despite my earlier good humor, Romance is not something I'm good with. How James finally matured and wooed Lily? Probably been done before and a hell of a lot better than anything I'll inevitably churn out in the last week. Harry and Ginny? Bland and boring as fuck. Harry and... Fleur/Gabrielle/Daphne/Tonks/well, pretty much anyone? Been done to death, and by better DLPers, I'm sure.

    Magic 8-ball, how are things looking for my concept prospects?

    Eh there are a lot of ways to do romance. You all gotta think outside the box a bit. Romance has to be a core element, but it doesn't mean you have to write a cookie-cutter OTP story.

    Write a sweet Snape/Lily where the end reveals that 'Lily' is the homunculus abomination he's keeping in the dungeon to play house with.

    Dumbledore/Grindalwald told in snippets that cumulates in their knock-downs drag out fight.

    Fred and George toss a love potion at Umbridges head as they leave and the first person she last eyes on in Firenze...

    Tonks survives the war and Harry just wants to help look after his godson.

    To get the information they desperately need, Harry must seduce Pansy Parkinson.

    Etc etc etc.

    Well, I have an idea for the romance part in terms of who the characters will be and how it will play out. Just no plot to go with it. And yes, I'm of the opinion that there should be some semblance of plot to go with the... *shudder* ...romance.

    Maybe... buying something? Looking for a rare item? Investigating something? Getting framed for something? Something.

    *brainstorms*

    Edit: Also, no one will like mine. If it gets written this time. Which it probably won't. But damnit I am going to try.
