Finished Chernobyl yesterday and listened to the final podcast today, such a fantastic show. Just really pleased and happy for everyone involved that it seems to be getting all the praise and recognition it deserves! Deserves all the awards it can get and hopefully the creator and writer, Craig Mazin, can go on to some other passion projects as this clearly was one of them.

The trial did take a fair bit of artistic license but was well worth it, the way Shcherbina, Khomyuk and then Legasov go through the buildup to the explosion in combination with flashbacks was just fantastic. You know everything is gonna go wrong yet you're still sitting there almost shouting at your TV to try and stop Dyatlov from being such an arrogant asshole!

Hulu is doing a TV remake of Das Boot. Trailer

It looks good, especially the fact that it's about more than just the sub.

This appears to be Hulu taking on the sequel to the original film that premiered on Sky last year, so some of the Europeans on here may have already seen it.

As someone who watched and enjoyed all eight episodes, I can say that it is indeed pretty good, definitely worth a watch if you like the original or just the genre in general.

Star Trek: Picard - Official Teaser.

Well, they certainly aim to please fans with getting their fan favourites involved when at first are information suggested it's going to be just Picard with all new characters. I fully expect at least one scene cameo from Q now.

Despite every single adult instinct I have screaming at me to be pessimistic, fuck it. I'm gonna avoid internet discussion about this, mark the release date on my calendar, and when I open that first episode I'm gonna party like it's 1987.

Unlike with Discovery, which I have watched and find generally displeasing, I think this actually looks pretty good. I'm genuinely excited for it.

The Boys is out. Episode 1 was great. Karl Urban and Simon Pegg's accents are a bit weird though

I've been binging the Boys and I fucking love it. I love the MCU and all, but with all the superhero shit coming out lately, I desperately needed regular guys kicking the shit out of superheroes badly.

Lol Pegg doesn't even sounds like Pegg. I think Urban is supposed to be english, but he ended up sounding more Kiwi.

One thing I wish they did was keep the comics premise that the Boys are a CIA SAD group rather than just a band of pissed off people. The government vs superheroes is pretty common lately (Superman vs Batman, Civil War) and it would have been cool to see

The Boys adaptation is terrible. Absolutely horrible. Mangles characterizations all around, especially with the reveal at the end.

I've skimmed through the comics so regarding characterization, there's really not much I can say. But Jesus, that ending. I still don't know how I feel about it, and it throws a lot of the original premise into question.

The more I watch bits and pieces the more it seems consensual and not rape like the comic books. The way everything is set up. Not to mention, Homelander is a bit of a sadist. He knows that Billy isn't really a threat, so why kill him when he can make him suffer by showing him that his life's purpose is all a sham?

Also, that last scene, she looks surprised/pleased/happy? to see Homelander, and then she looks past him to see Butcher and she gets the "oh fuck" look on her face.

That said as an independent TV Show, I liked the premise and thought the execution was decent.

    Jack Ryan Season 2 promo.

It looks a bit like it's turning into Mission Impossible, which isn't very true to the source character. But fuck it, I'm gonna watch it and enjoy it anyway.

I just finished the comics today, they were really a wild ride I ended up not being able to put down. I haven't seen the show, but it'll be a hard act to follow.
