There's plenty of people named Stephen King out there, but I imagine you'd get a lot of questions (and irritated people) if you tried to publish novels that way. Regardless of it being your real name.

I am a Croatian, so I would probably choose Croatian name. But something pronouncable in English, which is to say, without "š" or "nj" or other Croatian-language-specials.

I usually either use my first name with a twist, or my pen name(which is nonsense)

My middle and last names are both monosyllabic, so I'd combine them. Then just come up with a first name that is a single syllable, so altogether you have a three syllable pen name (rule of threes is King, after all).

    Belle Delphotter of Otterfans.

Not necessarily my first choice but the brand recognition for my Otterfans was such a sensation that I'm not sure I could repeat it.

Ah, in high school I used to go to this place where a bunch of us would write songs and then the girl who worked in that place would read it and lead the discussion about it later, and logically most of the people who submitted were girls so I created myself a pseudonym accordingly so no one would know it was me lol. (Now that I look back at it it was kinda obvious)

Anyway, I went by Vera Calven because it is an anagram for Ravenclaw with an extra E and V instead of W because the latter does not exist in our alphabet. It was my Pottermore house and I used to be proud of it... Still, if I were to publish something, I think I'll stick with it because as stupid as it is, it was the beginning of my 'writing career'.

I would have used my initials and my middle name (my mother's maiden name). But since my initials are "J.J.", I'm no longer certain that I want to be lumped in with Abrams.
