Yes, the OP is a Mary Sue to a tremendous degree, but I just want to let you all know that finally, someone is writing Janeway as SFDebris intended. 10/10, would read again.

It's kind of depressing, really. A self-insert Mary Sue bullshit fest. If I do read it again, it'll be because I'm desperate. 1.5/5, because I like non-shipping Voyager. And there's no Seven.

EDIT: Added link to SFDebris, for context.

This fic made me realise that I desperately want a well written Voyager fic.

This is not that fic. 2/5.

100% agree. When I first posted this it had a mild slant towards Janeway bashing which I incorrectly thought was going to be short disagreement for an episode. What I didn't realise was that it was the start of a constant bashfest where Janeway was made out to be so ridiculous a Captain that the whole story has turned into a farce.

That the co-author has said they had planned to continue the current bash-Janeway arc for another chapter just made me cringe.

    Downgraded to 1/5.

Yeah, the last chapter was definitely strike three for me. I'm struggling over the issue of wanting to call the author out, but I know that I'd be in the minority and my arguments would either inflame a bunch of people and get me a threadban (not that it would matter all that much, but I'd rather not have it on my record) or it would get buried among the 50+ pages of posts in between chapters that are only about tech porn.

    1/5.

Because I was curious about how delusional the readers of this story have gotten:

I just went through the first 13/29 pages of comments of the latest chapter (Only because I couldn't stand any more) and there was a grand total of 2 criticisms on the current Janeway IS thE EVil!!! arc. One is someone that mentioned what I said a little earlier, that if they were going to go in this direction, of insane Janeway, then they should have laid the groundwork a little better. (ie showed Janeway's POV in some way and the deterioration of her mental state, like Captain's Logs or something)

But otherwise it was a brilliant chapter. o_O

The other was that Janeway was a racist because of her comments about Torres... and Starfleet doesn't have racists in it, at least at the Captain's level.

But otherwise it was a brilliant chapter. o_O

All the others were about how awesome the chapter was, and how much sense it made. It seems as if anyone that had any sense has been banned already.

Most of the time I read about hugboxs on SB I see someone that just made a crappy statement without thinking the thing through and then promptly get piled on by everyone that likes the story. That isn't the case here. This truly is a hugbox story.

I prefaced my comment with “I recognize the hard work displayed by the Author & their beta team” and still got cursed at.

Imagine the salt & gnashing of teeth if I had simply told them that writing a bash fix is embarrassing and bad.

Yeah I have been watching this but it is hitting Janeway bashing pretty hard. Problem is canon Janeway had large number of very skecty actions which makes this whole thing more aggravating. Authot outright said what he is writing is canon which might have been argued at the start of the story -and I would have agreed- but recent chapters she just went off the rails. Jumping the shark in the process.

A new chapter is out and it's almost all about tech. Can't say I agree with all of SI's reasoning, but his choices fit it. Personally, I would additionally invest into an overpowered, but easy to hide from everyone technology. Something that could destroy Borg armada if there was no other way out of the situation.

And I would probably invest one point into Q technology, just to discover what that is and how it fits the rest of Star Trek.

It's almost like starting all over from the beginning. Like, "Okay, I may have ran the train off the rails and into a giant crowd of toddlers, but I'm better now that I'm back on my meds."

And now he's got two additional ships to outfit and avoided lengthy Janeway talk for the most part. I don't know what changed in the planning stages, but this chapter was originally supposed to deal with the fallout of the last chapter... from what I heard. I can't say I'm disappointed that it's moved on, but I hope it's just not delayed to the next, since he's supposed to go to a captain's meeting.

From what the author mentioned, the next part of this chapter will be about that.

A good question is who will have the command of their group and it probably should be the SI. It needs to be one person, not a council, with a rank and it would be better if they didn't have distractions like commanding their own ship.

Well, hopefully it's done quick and over with.

Regarding who is in charge: he's the ranking officer. That was said at the beginning of the story, but he was on a specific mission and it was Janeway's ship, probably didn't like the odds of a mutiny, so he didn't try to push the issue. If they go the Starfleet way, then as the highest ranking officer he is in charge. So unless there is some backroom rules lawyer shenanigans....

Since they have communications with Starfleet, I wouldn't even put it out of the realm of possibility for a raise in rank to cement the issue. So leave the captains for the other two ship as is, put Chakotay or Tuvok as Captain of Voyager, Sheppard as Commodore or Admiral... whatever rank is directly above Captain, and there you go.

My guess is that the meeting is about the captains hearing back from Starfleet, putting Janeway in cryo-sleep, and giving Sheppard a promotion.

Unless I missed something they don't, the new ships went missing before Voyager.

What I did notice is that the Janeway resolution chapter included a possible route for her back to the command chair via Lt. Andrews - "her man in Security". I cannot think of anything that I'd like less than to see this story continue with more Captain Janeway given the way she has been characterized.

I'm kind of hoping the next chapter does include something... anything which draws a line under the Janeway arc once & for all.

Remember the last DS9 interlude where everyone was using the the new omni tool? O'Brian bitched about it.

I don't think it's used often, but some type of communication is obviously there. Delayed significantly, but there nonetheless.

Wasn't that one time only? Using an accidental time portal to give information to Romulans who decided to share it in the present day?

Sure... Okay. I must have skipped over that when I read it. I tend to skim through the monotonous tech talk a lot. I assumed Sheppard did whatever they did in the show and then never used it again since he was too busy bashing Janeway. I don't even remember what season they were able to make contact.

I think there is a WoG somewhere about this and Author said Janeway is going to stay in command. I think I will stop reading this story. I definitely should have as soon as I saw that tough.

*blinks* After she tried to murder someone? After showing the entire bridge crew and the other captains that she's psychotic? After brazenly unveiling a Section officer to everyone? How in the hell does that make sense in any universe? Was this a recent quote?

That would make more sense. Either he was referring to "up until now" or he changed something and went in a different direction. After you mentioned it, I went back to recent comments and I didn't see anyone screeching about how Janeway would still be in command, just guesses about what would happen to her. One would think with how hungry they are for revenge that someone would have said something to rile them up by this point.
