    After talking to @Xiph0 we’re going to extend by a few weeks — if you already submitted, feel free to edit and resubmit.

    We just had two entries and I like to have at least 3. Someone nab a short fic at least, yah?

    New deadline: October 17th at 11:59 pm

    Even with the generous extension I'm not going to have a loaf of story bread cooled and ready for slicing by the deadline. Currently the dough has only risen about halfway, didn't use enough starter, and needs some extra kneading.

    Some grains of story colour differently in the oven while they bake, and this one hasn't developed a nice crust yet.

    Sorry I was watching Proof Bread vids on YouTube while writing this post.

    Yeah my story never reached climax. Not nearly enough free time as would want.

    I tried to pound one out, tried a few different techniques.

    While the the fluffing was complete it never got to penetrate the main body of the work.

    Sorry I to was watch videos while typing this...

    Is this still going on :p ? I, unfortunately, got nothing concrete to show. I've had an idea where dragons conquered the world in Dark Souls Age of Ancient style and wizards living underground but couldn't figure it out, and got lost in explaining how that actually happened.

    The story as it is is a huge exposition piece that I didn't want to bore people with so I'm admitting defeat this time.

    I still only have two entries, so I guess it's up to Ched. No one submitted during the extension.

    I'd ask for one last chance to November 1st, as much to give any other hopefuls a shot as to push forward with one last concept I came up with leading up to the initial extension.

    But I understand that is likely folly and too much to expect.

    I can write something I’m just out of it.

    We’ll go till November 1st BUT the two people who submitted on time will get an award for whoever gets the most points there.

    I wanted to put something together but had an extremely busy last month or so that kept me from getting to it. I actually only saw today that the deadline was extended (and then extended again), so I'll try and get something together.

    2 weeks isn't a ton of time but I'm reasonably confident that I can pump out a passable short story in that timeframe. And if nothing else, at least it will make up some numbers.

    Its go time folks, about a day left before the deadline. Work has beaten me into exhaustion but I have this weekend off and I am trying to put something together. Let's do this!

    I'm not finished yet, but I'll make it in time. Just a few more scenes left to take care of.

    Honestly, I'll be proud of just getting the thing over the line given how little time I've had to work on it.

    The good news: I've submitted.
    The better news: I have a much stronger outline in mind to work on over the coming months so I can post it to the WBA. What featured here is more or less obsoleted by the plan in mind, but I'll never write that one in time, so hey.

    Best of luck to everyone, and kudos to the two who first submitted, y'all the GOATs.

    Just submitted mine.

    Definitely not my best work, but I'm feeling pretty good since I started it during the second extension and got it over the line with *checks clock* about 2 hours to spare? In my timezone, at least. Gives a nice little feeling of accomplishment.

    Gotta admit part of me is looking forward to the next comp when I'll (hopefully) have the time to not have to rush something through, but I'm more excited to see the other entries for this prompt. Looking forward to reading and reviewing them all. :)

    I was late on this, busy time at work :p You folks put in another 3 entries in that extended time, which is quite nice to see. They're all up now.

    Quick question, how long is the window for voting? I assume it's around 2 weeks still, but the date range listed in this thread is still the one from the first extension.

    Yeah I’ll update it as soon as I’m at a computer. Mine is down at home still.
    But we’ll do three weeks.

    2 points -> #4
    2 points -> #1
    1 point -> #2

    Had to strongly resist the urge to give everyone a single point.

    Good show everyone.
