Spoiler for a Chapter 3 Hunt named Deadeye.

So, fml. I made an EXPcast Experi(250) and I was using it to gain mad expz right? I used it during the lead up to Deadeye on a group of monsters, causing the area to chill and mist over.

Then comes on the Deadeye sequence, misty all over the place and I was like WHY HAS THE SPELL EFFECT NOT ENDED YET, FUUUU.

It wasn't until the end that I realized that It was intended and.. yeah. It was an awesome set of events.

I'm doing the xp thing now. Just got into chap 3 (fuck those red frogs), I'll probably sleep at Galdin at 15k.

I'll see how far i can push it though. If i still have quests for my level, I'll just keep going.

Does anyone else love that Prompto occasionally sings the FF victory song?

The PS4 console is less than a month old. The game was released that day.

In other news, I'm still on chapter 1 and already managed to smash up my convertible. :D

I presume you mean the new PS4 when you say that.

Anyway, a game releasing and a game 'going Gold' are not the same thing. As a game is generally complete as of the version sent to retail and various ratings and approvals, several weeks prior to being available to customers. As such, this doesn't, and in fact shouldn't, prohibit them from further work on the game between said 'going Gold' and the actual release date.

Well, further work on refining/debugging the existing game files, and/or adding to the base release game appropriately at least. Which it seems is what the patch at release was all about, from what I can tell.

I'm not a fan of day-1 purchasable DLC as some, or most notoriously a certain, companies do, either. Although, to be fair, the production teams that work on such content are generally not taken as an actual subtraction out of the core development team anyway.

Sure. The time wasn't related to download as far as I could tell though. It was copying the files from disk to HD and unpacking them. Which is what I'd expect from a PC game, not a console game.

Oh... right, that thing. Dicked around in the open-combat arena thing during that strange install period.

I fucking adore this game so far. Rounding up all the xp I can at the quests at my level atm, sitting at 10k right now and am at around Deadeye too.

Btw, Quadcasting Thunder on a group of mecha soldier cunts who drop out of the sky in a convenient group and one shotting them them?

    Better than sex...

    ...theoretically?

Haha, I do that a lot.

I have a stack of Thundara in my pocket at all times to ruin the mech soldiers days as soon as they drop.

Hugplx earnedit89 add me, noob. Same for anyone else on PS4.

Well 13 gameplay hours of taking my sweet time and I've finally reached the events of the movie. I'm level 14 and have finished all the available hunter missions.

I really enjoy this game so far and I'm heading right back to it after this post.

First impression (after about 3 hours of play) is that it feels like Final Fantasy. I didn't get that with FFXIII at all, and not as much with FFXII. That alone makes me happy. I love the design, the size and openness of the world, and the character progression/customisation mechanics.

The other main impression is being rather overwhelmed, however. Right now combat is just Tekken style button mashing for me because it's all too frantic to actually make any decisions let alone execute them while under attack. Also when you're surrounded by loads of enemies and allies it can be very hard to see when you're about to be attacked and thus effectively dodge. Still having a lot of problems with using the warp mechanic except for an initial warp strike which opens the fight. I also have a lot of trouble with taking in any kind of combat information like what's happening with my HP/MP, what damage I'm actually doing to the enemy, etc. In short I basically jump in and then mash circle and square until the combat is finished.

So yeah. Right now I'm pleased with it, once I'm a bit more used to combat I think I will love it.

Turn on wait mode if you're feeling overwhelmed by the combat. It's a neat system once you get used to it. I mainly am utilizing it to take down enemies at night, i.e. the ones 10 to 15 levels higher than me. Wrecking the opening area's Iron Giant at level 6 was so satisfying.

Also, when you fight, make sure to set up near a good point warp. Warping out and hanging for a few seconds gives you time to analyze what's happening.

The intense level parry drills in the tutorial are good for helping you get up to speed on the intricacies of combat too. Spend a dozen or so minutes in there and your finesse scores will probably go up.
