Would you care to elaborate on that statement?

We were talking about this on IRC earlier, but the long and short of it is, the thing in question was a procedural change, not some vast new assault on freedom. The article makes it seem hugely more nefarious. Hence my comment.

It's the intercept. Greenwald's rag is devoted to portraying every intelligence community procedural change as a nefarious attack on freedom.

Hardly surprising.

I see thanks for clearing that up.

Definitely a bit exaggerated, but I do think it's fair to point out that a lot of people who were fine with Obama's expansion of executive power are going to seriously regret it once Trump's in office.

Granted, the presidency expanding its powers has been going on for a long time, so the worst one can say against Obama is that he didn't buck the trend.

There are no brakes on the Trump train

Quote:
Donald Trump called NATO obsolete, predicted that other European Union members would follow the U.K. in leaving the bloc, and threatened BMW with import duties over a planned plant in Mexico, according to two European newspapers which conducted a joint interview with the president-elect.
Well, at least you can't say that the guy is just the new iteration of the same old song and dance.

I just can't see what the benefit of 'some good deals' with Russia would be. Aside from the frequent sabre-rattling, it is a paranoid country that borderline hates the west with GDP the size of Italy. How exactly is it smart to stir shit with EU to make 'good deals' with Russia is a bit beyond me. Maybe he considers it some strange zero-sum game in which weak and fractured Europe benefits US?

I'd be anxiously waiting to see what our Eastern European NATO allies reaction to this is, if it weren't for the fact that the term "European Allies" may be obsolete soon too.

Trump just promised that everyone will have insurance with his Obamacare replacement. That would reassure me somewhat if I could believe him. But its just making me more nervous, he obviously has no idea what he's talking about. Maybe it'll provide political cover for Democrats not accepting any Republican plan that does not meet that promise though.

He doesn't have any understanding of modern economics. It's important to remember this is a 70 year old reality tv person who hasn't paid taxes in a decade.

If Trump has ever looked at his own accounts I would be very surprised.

And with the amount of money he deals with you would need accountants and tax advisers to understand what exactly is going on.

True. He did start off with only a small loan of a million dollars.
