Two weeks left. The hype is real.

I'm really excited for the premiere because my sister will be visiting from Wroclaw for a couple days and we've made plans to watch the premiere together. First time we'll be doing something like this. It might be a silly little thing, but I'm closer to my sister than I've ever been during childhood and it'll be good to meet and talk in person instead of calling.

Completely unreliable rumours have it that GRRM finished the book and they plan to announce it on SDCC where he will be a surprise guest. Now that would be the storm, the first and the last.

 

"Today" is relative though right? US is what, roughly 8 hours from the evening premiere? It'll be on HBO in Poland in 24 hrs, unless HBO GO means you can see it today. I don't have HBO GO. I can wait another day, but fuck me if I don't want to watch it now.

Great start of the season.

Arya and the Hound are still bad asses, Cersei is still crazy as fuck and Jamie seems to be coming to that realization, Dany is home, Jon is making decisions and Sam has a really shitty job.

All in all, the episode flowed really well and had a ton of needed character development.

I can't wait for shit to get real, as we all know it's coming.

Wouldnt be surprised if Varys/someone knows who Jon is and tells him or Dany before the meeting though.

Why was Dragonstone empty though?

 

Thread title says WARNING SPOILERS so I'm not going to bother with spoiler tag.

I really liked the way S07E01 handled Jon and Sansa. There was some worry, at the end of S06, that Sansa was going to be played as too Machiavellian, with the possibility that she deliberately tried to get Jon killed by holding back on the information that reinforcements were on their way until he had already committed to battle. But this episode has firmly positioned Sansa as on Jon's side, just with different ideas of the best course of action.

On top of that, I liked the nuance to their disagreement. It's not like either of them was clearly in the right. Sansa's position was more ruthless and pragmatic in the short run, but Jon's position wasn't some idealistic fool's errand. In a feudal society, stripping bloodline (as opposed to an individual) of their lands and title was an extreme action known as attainder. Ultimately, most historical monarchs avoided following through with bills of attainder because it was such an extreme, tyrannical action that doing it too much would inevitably turn the powerful nobility against you. No noble will support a society where their dynasty is permanently precarious because the monarch can revoke it at any time. The only monarchs who successfully used attainder were those whose position was already absolutely secure like Henry VIII.

So really, Jon's position is the wiser one in the long run. His crown is nowhere near secure enough that he can rule as an absolute monarch, rearranging the property of his subjects at a whim.

Dragonstone was more like a garrison that a hold with a town attached. It's why Stannis was so pissed in the first place. He didn't get the grand city and castle of Storm's end, he got sent to man a fort.

Also, opening scene was best scene.

 

Was that supposed to be Jorah who Sam talked to in the Citadel?
