Welcome to the thread Academy of Despair. This game will be flavored on the popular game series/anime "Dangan Ronpa". For those of you who have not had the pleasure of playing/watching someone play/watching the anime, it is not required for the game, but I encourage it, because it's a fantastic game.

This game is made for exactly 13 players. No more, no less. As such, signups will be first come, first serve, with anyone who is late able to offer their name for replacement.

Dead Thread/Observation Thread privileges may be asked for at any time by non-players and by dead players, but will not be given unless requested.

Agreeing to play in this game is like signing a contract that you agree to play it to your fullest. No, I don't expect you to invest your life into the game, but I do expect you to do your best to not have to make me replace you. Obviously, real life shit happens, and if so, that's fine. I only ask you do your best.

While I personally am I fan of longer deadlines, your site meta hates me them, so the first day will have a 1 week deadline, and every day thereafter will have a 72 hour deadline. Nights will have a strict 24 hour deadline. What does this mean? It means that even if I don't open the thread for day immediately after 24 hours (I will do my level best), I will only accept night actions submitted before these 24 hours.

As a group, you may ask for a deadline extension, if you feel the game needs it. In the end, it is my decision to award any extensions.

Finally, as an interesting twist to the game, this game will have a SEMI-SMALLTOWN setup. What does this mean? Smalltown setups are ones where the roles of players are already known, but their alignments are random, and thus not known.

For example, everyone would know Player A is a Doctor, but it's entirely random if he is a scum/town doctor!

This particular game doesn't go quite that far. This game will involve you choosing your character BEFORE THE GAME STARTS. Each character has a role assigned to them, but not an alignment. Every player in the game will know which character you are, but not your role or alignment. Hence, semi-smalltown.

As you can see, there are 14 slots. That's because one role will not be used in this game! (and will become flavor for the first murder~). Basically, you'll be deciding the game's setup without even knowing it~.

Day 1 is the most important day in the game for both factions. I personally prefer longer deadlines for ALL days, but if y'all insist on short deadlines, I at least want to extend Day 1 slightly.

 

Considering you can only get so much info in one in game day, I would imagine most people would get bored playing for a bloody week with nothing to do but analyze how people say hello to each other.

 

Average day length on Mafiascum is about 2 weeks. Deadline lynches are actually quite common.

I guess my point is, there's a quite a lot that can be done. I was GOING to cover stuff like that in my "shit I know about Mafia" post, but I decided to save it for after this game.
