So I watched this the other night on iPlayer, it's brilliant and crazy and also based on a rue story. Hugh Grant plays Jeremy Thorpe, the UK leader of the liberal party was found to have had a decade long gay affair after his attempt to have his former gay lover murdered failed. The scandal and subsequent trial happened in the late 60s early 70s and has largely been forgotten, but the whole thing is brilliantly portrayed here. They really lean into the biazze details of the actual case, at its heart this is a comedy but it has a great deal of understated sympathy for the charecters, even Thorpe, and it packs an emotional wallop. Totally compelling and worth a watch.
