0_0 what a surprise! Next year, we definitely need more authors in this category.

Hm. I didn't like that story by Jack of Diamonds. But, nevertheless, well done.

Yeah, if you got into this category, you had like 75% chance of winning an award. :)

See, this is why you and certain people shouldn't be allowed to vote. If there's four people, you have a one in four chance to win the award. Now, I hope I don't have to do the math for you but that's usually a no-brainer for 25%.

ip82's talking about an award, not the award.

Next time, read a person's post more carefully before commenting.

    There is only one award.

Do you see anything about second and third awards that would allow for a seventy-five percent chance of winning an award? o_O

Considering I helped write up the bloody things, I think I would know.

In that thing you call a closet. Better watch out,
They truly are nice in Pakistan.

Newcomer was really iffy for me. Not a lot of people to vote for. It was one of those categories that would have been nice to skip.

I would try to be happy about getting third in this, but as there were only four people in it... and the fact that you're all treating this category as a joke is a bit depressing too :(. Nevertheless, thanks to everyone who voted for me.

I'd like to echo BMM's words. I'm happy that I placed, but the number of nominees and the fact that this award is being treated as a joke (not entirely without reason) dims that to some extent.

I guess I'll just take the fact that I was nominated at all as a good thing, and be proud that so many people thought that my work was good enough to place this high. So thanks to those who voted for me, I appreciate it.

You guys are taking this too personally. It's true there were only four nominees to choose from, but that was because only brand spanking new authors and their very first fics were allowed here. The vast majority of author's first fics suck donkey balls and are often taken down. Or else their first fics are one-shots and drabbles and brief introductions into the world of fanfiction.

All four nominees here have started quality novel-length fics for their initial effort. So don't look at coming in first, second, third, or fourth as much as consider what a nice quality fic Cubdom has got going, and he came in fourth out of four. If that's the worst in this category then perhaps our standards were too high, or simply no one else was really qualified to compete with the four of you.

I think this is one of the categories that could use some alteration for next year. Maybe best Newcomer Author, rather than simply limiting it to just the first fanfic. Not sure.

    Congrats to all four nominees.

Well done to all three of you, and particularly Jack who I felt has come on immensely in such a short period and, for me, was a very worthy winner.

Yeah, a newcomer award would have been much better IMO.
