    Summary: Ed could untie knots in the fifth and sixth dimensions blindfolded. He could convince the military he fell through a rabbit-hole, and even stop a Drachman invasion (with a little help), but he can't seem to avoid dating Roy Mustang (which is maybe okay). But here's hoping they can collar a General trying to trigger a three-way war before he destroys the world. 2003 Anime/Movie AU.

    What can I say about this fic? It's a surprisingly funny story with a long, well-put together conspiracy thread, excellent characterization, and a romance that doesn't make me want to gouge my eyes out. And it manages to be clever about it. Very few things can be deemed irrelevant to the overarching plot, which is something I appreciate in any character-driven story.

    It's not so bad... but as always the homosexuality of the protagonist came of nowhere... not worth reading.

    I saw that and wanted to argue, but I couldn't think of anything from the story itself that I could use.

    This is more or less exactly what one would expect from an FMA fanfic, that is

    -Slash for one

    -Poorly Written Porn, also known as PWT/Porn Without Plot, though, in the interest of fairness, I may not have read far enough to reach it.

    Nothing really worth mentioning at the dinner table.

    All in all? It could certainly be worse, which is about all it has going for it. The character interactions were bland as can be, and I was unable to make it beyond the the first two chapters, it had no hook, nothing to make me care or want to continue.

    If you're already a fan of boring fan wanked to hell situations, or just a fan of the pairing, eh, give it shot. Worst that can happen is you waste ten or so minutes and get bored.
