    Title: Checkmate
    Author: Phoenix Sworn
    Rating: Teen
    Parings: None
Status: WIP, 35 chapters 75763 words
Summary- Post OotP. AU. Will be dovetailed with HBP. With the World turning against him, and everything going horribly wrong, Harry is stuck. He has to keep fighting, but he may have to do it all alone.
    Link: Checkmate

The first few chapters are slow and feature some Pussy!Harry, but later on becomes a great fic. The grammar is good so the professionalism of the writing is top notch IMO. Throughout the story there is some Pussy!Harry but its not terrible. It does feature a redemmed!Draco and Snape, but theres a reason. One of my favs.

The themes covered in this fic had a few interesting points. But the general feel, overall writing style, and some themes (redeemed!slytherins, for one) put this story off for me.

The minute I saw this comment I decided not to read it. And why do you call Ginny GinSlut?

Ginny is called Ginslut 'cause she is as some put it on this site a 'cum-guzzling whore.' Don't really know to many ways of putting it, just read a few random H/G fics :puke: or even a few dark harrys and you may see what we mean. She isn't liked here very much, not that I blame anyone for that as I don't like her much either.

On the fic, I'll just check back in later after I'm done reading it. I put a note to read it later so I may take awhile. not that anyone really cares about that.

Like I said before the first few chapters are flinch worthy, but it gets MUCH better later on. He's not even friends with the Beaver, Ron or Ginny forever. Somewhere around chap 11 or 12 they dont become friends anymore. If you trudge though the biginning it's good.

I have to agree, though i stil carried on with the fic just for shits and giggles. It's medioca at best, with a lot of unintellagable bullshit, but still mildly entertaining.

I started reading this awhile ago and then lost track of it a few months ago.. After picking it back up and haveing to start over from the start of the story, I found it to be rather well done.. I'm not saying that it was the best story I've ever read, but deffenatly worth the time put into reading it.. A few things did strike me as unreal or odd, but they weren't that important to me as far as a plotline goes so I looked over it..
Overall not a bad story though...

Hmm i might read it if it isn't too cliched crap.

Speaking of cliche, isn't magic cliche because EVERY Harry potter fic has it?
    Just a thought... :magic:

Actually, not every Harry Potter fic has it. Some have Hogwarts a Ballet school, Hogwarts a high school and there all non magic kids. Also wats the point of that since you have magic in your story so your using, by your standards, a "cliche" yourself....don't be an idiot.

The sheer intensity of the angst and pussiness on Harry's part makes reading this a struggle.

The writing is alright, grammatical correct but too plain.

I don't know how to describe it, but the author pulverized Harry with setback after tragedy after defeat, and somehow didn't manage to make it epic.

You know how Thalarian has Harry brutalized and facing impossible odds in Queens of Darkness, Ladies of Light? It made the story awesome.

Phoenix Sworn is nowhere close to Thalarian.

2/5. Maybe 3/5. But not library-worthy no matter what.

It looks like your flux capacitor is due for realignment. In the mean time, I'd suggest using a few more jiggawatts.

Necro-ing is allowed in the library if an actual review is left, so go "flux" yourself.

That being said....eww. Can't believe this received such positive reception only 3 years ago. The first chapters were barely worth reading, and the angst wouldn't have been tolerable in '06, much less now.
It doesn't even merit "guilty pleasure" status. Definitely not library
