I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend anyone and will shut up about it.

Back to the debate though, revolutions don't have to be violent.
In the russian revolution only a small number were hurt.
But also the industrial revolution was different yet again.
I think if people are to get equality you have to fight for it.

How many people died in the struggle to stop slavery.
Martin Luther King was a brave man who managed to gain rights for black americans. Also alot of people died in the battle to end appartied in South Africa.
Let us not forget the women who threw themselves under horses to get women the vote.
If people just sat back and ignored the problems of the world none of the people we know as heroes would have lost.
It is harder to stand for what is right but worth the suffering if the many get a better world.

I don't like revolution in the sense it creates a single mindset in the masses. The risk that everything goes to hell is higher in a revolution. It enforces a radical change on people and when it’s over, you usually have to enforce the change with violence.

Be it a left or right revolution, the end result is often a dictatorship.

Edit: Maybe we should have defined what revolution is before we started to discuss it?

    I got this from wikipedia.
Revolutions can be a sudden change in art/music styles or as a change in thought or government. As there are different types of politics there are different types of revolution.

In that sense, revolution might not be too bad, but when you talk about communism... and politics, I see it more toward rebellion with violence to get their opinions recognized.

Actually in a lot of revolutions the government does not have to enforce their ideals by voilence. Usually the majority like the revolution. An old example of this would be the revolution in America where the americans fought against the british to gain independance.

I still dont understand why Canada doesn\'t do this.

Uh Cupspeaker, the revolution was not amongst the colonies but against the British which definitely resulted in violence. A revolution is not caused by the government but by the people against the government or establishment, whose select members replace the government if they are successful.

To answer Cupspeaker's question, Why didn't Canada Revolt and ober thorw the British. Canadians were Loyal to The British Crown. We gained independance through Goveremnt Action.
