Preferably completed (or actively updating) fics that feature a more focused and mature trio that explores the friendship between them. Magic exploring and more explicit "training" would be a bonus.

I've found that slytherin trio does this well (Pathetic, Ordinary, Liars and the Chessmaster series) so I don't mind any recs in that direction either.

I mean, I'd say the canon trio did pretty well for themselves.

 

It's been a while since I read the books so that'd be true enough. Always felt that the films lacked a certain element of him really contributing long term to the trio. (Disregarding them being teenagers), I wonder how a more serious realisation of the wizarding war (or more it's imminent arrival) would have affected his work ethic

 

Thanks for the rec. I've heard great things about this fic although the incomplete tag put me off, it could be time to indulge myself maybe. Would appreciate any other that come to mind!

 

It’s worth it, even incomplete it’s one of the best examples of what you’re looking for in my opinion.
