It is such a possible Xover, it is theorised that the nevernever could allow passage to whole new planets, what if carna is one of them. A storm, could have flung a roman camp deep through the nevernever. Dresden could help them reconnect to earth, they would be classified as elemantists. THe first lord could get a place on the accords, wizards ould have a place where they could meet in safety and in the open.

Okay.... say you do that. What would happen? How would the plot be? What would happen with the Vord? Why wouldn't the Alerans simply kill the wizards and be done with it? How would you stop the Alerans from coming to Earth?

The idea is intriguing but there's a number of problems with it.

Might be more appropriate to put this in the DF Fanfic Ideas Thread since it is, you know, a fanfic idea. Seriously man, it's like half a dozen threads down on the sub-forum you posted in. >.>

But sure, this is an alright idea. If I remember correctly, Butcher's original idea for Alera had been that a Roman legion got lost and somehow ended up in Alera, and a few thousand years (or whatever) later they discovered Pokemon, er, Furies.

So say one of the legions from Codex Alera (Tavi's, obviously) gets lost and Dresden finds them and carts them off to 20th century Chicago. Fine. Tavi manages to somehow get them registered with the Accords -- also fine. Their "Furies" being classes as some kind of special/elemental magic, again, fine.

But that doesn't say much about the story. Unless the only story you are telling is the story of them getting to the Dresdenverse. And really that should be done fairly quickly because if you dwell on it too much you're going to run into problems with suspension of disbelief unless you are remarkably good (you're not). So... yeah? I mean it could be a one-shot if that's all you have I guess.

You do it a disservice. It really is an excellent series.

And in practice the furies aren't much like Pokemon anyway. Its definitely a series to read, especially if you enjoyed Butcher's other work.

If you want to read a series with transplanted roman legions, go with Turtledove's Videssos series...or whatever the title is. It's a really good 4 book series. He really is one of the best contemporary authors of our era.

It's possible that you may want to look at Zelazny's Amber series as well for a few ideas.
