Well, I knew the Bush Administration was full of crooks, corrupt officials, liars, corporate executives, murderers, and people who just weren't very nice...

But apparently they had a 55 year old pedophile as one of their higher ups in Homeland Security.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060405/ap_on_re_us/press_aide_arrested_1

*sigh* They've already stolen our national innocence (if we had any left after Vietnam, Johnson, and Nixon)... Looks like they've moved on to stealing our children's innocence.

    A 55 year old pedophile!?

    *eyes turn blood red*

How can anyone treat a child like that? To use someone that young as a sexual object is the most repugnant act that any human can perform. The very thought of it makes my blood boil!

    *fingertips begin crackling with lightning*

CHILDREN ARE NOT MEANT TO BE USED TO FULFILL A PERSON'S SICK, TWISTED, AND PERVERTED FANTASIES!!!!!

    *breathes deeply*

I'm sorry for the outburst, but I was once a victim of those kinds of people when I was still a toddler. I don't actually remember the details, but I have been able to piece together the facts over the years. Also, my younger sister was abducted and murdered someone just like that, and she wasn't even a year old! It's these sick perverts that really make me question what little faith I have left in humanity.

As you can tell, this is an issue that I feel really strongly about.

Yeah, this guy got caught in a sting... But people like him don't only do that type of sick shit once.

Seriously, people like that need help... Not Government jobs.

And by help I mean sharing a cell with a 6'9 400 pound lifer named Bubba.

Those kinds of people do not deserve the right to exist in this universe. They are the type of people that makes me wonder how I can stand sharing the same air with some other humans. People like that deserve to die by being tossed out into the vacum of space. Minus a spacesuit.

I'll agree its fucked up and wrong, but you don't have to bring down Bush's administration with it. I mean damn, get over it.

I wouldn't be surprised if lot more people in higher up jobs did crap like this. Politicans, celebrities, etc. Its only the ones that get caught that you know about.

The point I was making with that statement was that this is more or less a microcosm of the type of people who have ranking positions in the Bush Administration/Republican Party.

Current House WHIP: Passed out checks from the tobacco lobby on the fucking house floor before a vote before he became WHIP.

Dick Cheney: I'm sorry, but no-bid contracts for a company you still have financial and personal ties to?

Bush Family: Look at the companies who get US Government Contracts, and then look at which Bush is either a stock-holder or sitting on the board.

Tom DeLay: Crimes discussed in another thread.

Karl Rove/Scooter Libby: Leaking the name of an under-cover CIA Agent as an act of retaliation aimed at her husband.

There are only so many coincidences that can be explained away.

And those are just the more high profile ones.

The point I was trying to make with that post is, when you have thiefs, liars, and murderers working as your chief advisors; its sad, but not suprising, that a pedophile got thrown in the mix.

If you are going to argue politics you need to take a neutral view. Clinton and other democrats are guilty of the same things. I'm not going to argue pointless red vs. blue crap.

All politians are essentially crooked in the same manor. While you seem to be anit-republican I will point out several demorcatic senators have decried the Patriat Act, while their voting record shows they voted for it, twice.

The point I'm trying to make is it doesn't matter. People don't vote for parties, they vote for who they think will screw them over the least. They are still voting on getting screwed.

First off, I am insulted that you think that I buy into the red vs. blue stuff.

Especially since you think that I fall on the Democratic side of the aisle.

I am a socially progressive political independent with socialist leanings. This brings me into agreement with the Democratic party on many issues now because the Republicans have forgotten the principles upon which their party was founded.

As for the Democrats voting records, the first time the USA Patriot Act was voted on, it was a rush job and none of the Senator's had the time (or the political backbone) to stop it. Except Russ Feingold who voted against it both times.

The second time the USA PAtRIOT Act was passed there was a promise in the bill which would have softened the provisions to an almost understandable level, however President Bush claimed that in accordance with Dr. Yoo's interpretation of the Unitary Executive he had the right to ignore the provision. That provision was the only reason the Democrats voted for it the second time around.

As for needing a neutral view to argue politics, I'm not "arguing" politics. I am stating fact (and citing examples) when I say that the sheer volume of major scandals under Bush manages to beat out both the Grant Administration and the Harding Administration. In case you are unfamilliar with American political history, those are recognized as the two most corrupt in American History.

But just for arguments sake lets compare Clinton to Bush Jr.

    Under Clinton we had:

    Economic Prosperity
A Budget Surplus after 12 years of increasingly large deficits under Republican presidents.
    Fiscal Responsibility
A Competant leader committed to peace.
A Good Relationship with the rest of the world
And a guy who cheated on his wife, then decided to deny it under oath.
    WhiteWater
Somalia (where we never should have been in the first place).

    Under Bush We Had:

    No economic growth
    Large economic losses
Trillions of dollars in budget deficit
A loss of global support and sympathy
A terrorist attack because people under him didn't share information. (And those aren't my words, those are the 9/11 commissions.)
A war with a country that was not a threat to us in any way shape or form. A war the coompletely destabilized an already struggling region.
A loss of jobs to other countries
    A higher unemployment rate
    A squandered surplus
The leaking of a CIA Agents name as an act of political revenge
An attack on the civil liberties of homosexual Americans.
The creation of a data-mining system that poses a greater threat to the privacy of everyday Americans.
Billions in No-Bid Contracts given to a company with financial and personal ties to the current Vice President
Ganon/Guckert-Gate where a man who moonlighted as a gay escort got daily WhiteHouse press passes t ask softball (bailout) questions during press conferences.

And thats just the shit I can some up with in 2 minutes each off of the top of my head.

    In Election Season
The restrction of the free speech of protestors.

    Second Term

    Katrina
    Pedophile
Unqualified Personal friend nominated for the position of Supreme Court Justice
    DeLay forced to step down.
More federal interference with the private lives of citizens.
    Iraq's backward slide into anarchy.

And now... Back ON topic, a pedophile working in Homeland Security.

If you want to continue this, PM me with a response. It has nothing to do with left vs. right with me (although I am left myself), but it DOES have to do with who's lies hurt my country more... And overall, a blowjob from an intern is better than 2000+ dead, 10000+ wounded, and no end in sight.

Actually, a lot of people do. Hence the party-line option at most polling stations. I could give you a long and detailed analysis of voter psychology as it was taught to me by (ow retired) Political Scientist and Neoconservative analyst Ofira Seliktar, or I could just tell you that one of the few things she and my AP US Gov. book agree on is that you are wrong. *sticks tongue out because he is sick and feels like bing immature*

    Inside YOUR closet. Go check.

I just wanted to throw my own two sense in, and say this is one of the LEAST reported, and most frightening issues. I'm a libertarian, so any expansion of government concerns me, but this... Read about it. I saw a special regarding the NSA eaves-dropping and data mining on a Saturday evening special of Meet the PRess (with Tim Russert).

    Creepy shit.

I recommend Robert O'Harrow's book "No Place to Hide"

The man is a Pulitzer Prize Finalist, and a journalist with the Washington Post.

Hie and James Risen know their shit. Get the book, and get freaked out.

    It scared me....

I think that this forum needs a "Politics" sub-forum.

Anyways, BOT, that is beyond weak. It's just pathetic. Utterly pathetic.

Gio gets some points back for well thought out points with examples, instead of the typical crap such as "So and so sucks, or don't bash him, so and so was worse"

Clinton wasn't perfect, plus he was lucky to have the dot com stuff explode with growth, but yeah overall, he was nothing compared to our puppet pres. now.

As for politics in general being a subforum. No. You're lucky we let the ones we do live, as almost every single one has degenerated into mindless arguments or stupid statements and needed heavy culling to keep readable. It's not worth the effort spent on them.

I have never (and will never) claim Clinton was perfect, or anything closely resembling it.

his miliary decision making was mediocre as our presidents go, and some of the policies/legislation under his administration I have real problems with.

For instance the "Don't ask Don't tell" policy, the "Defense of Marraige Act of 1996", and the moronic handling of the Elian Gonzales situation.

However, Clinton was not so arrogant and condescending to our allies that he drove many of them away. His economic policies were on the whole more effective, and he made sure we had responsible budgets.

/me smacks Gio. I wasn't talking to you in re. to the Clinton thing.

"Clinton and other democrats are guilty of the same things. I'm not going to argue pointless red vs. blue crap. "

My point was, yeah he had issues, and a few of his big points in his pres were influenced by other stuff, but he's no world class fuckup like this current administration is.

What our puppet president has done these past years, will either

-not be undone for a great long time (the spike in hatred in the middle east of us, in a area where we were already hated for stupid reasons.. "hey let's invade on of thier countries just to give them a few real reasons and see how mad they get then!")

-or settle down in the next president or two if they work their asses off fixing this problem. I forsee it being a 10-20 year deal, the moment we pull out in any immediate future, the whole country goes to hell.

Yeah I know you weren't specifically talking to me... But still I felt like listing a few additional grievences I had with Clinton.

Although actually, I should be thanking him for the Don't ask Don't tell as none of my openly gay friends wish to serve in the military and now have a convenient way to avoid the draft :)

World class fuck up doesn't even describe this Administration.... This is like "Historical World Class Fuck Up."

I personally think the only way to decently govern a people would be to have a dicatorship or complete anarchy. One where government decisions must be follow, and the otehr where there are no government decisions to follow.

I wont even dignify that burst of ignorance with a response.

    Read Hegel's theories.

And realize that pure anarchy is by definition impossible to achieve.

Pure anarchy can never happen because people generally try and form a society, conciously on unconciously. Some are just better than others. With pure anarchy, everyone would probably die really, really fast IMO.

Anarchy, like all other systems is deeply flawed at its core. As for the pedophille in the high ranks, another reason why I deeply despise all policticans.

    No, pure anarchy cannot exist?

    Why?

Because anarchy is by definition the lack of a social contract of an sort between the individuals in a society.

However, if all the individuals agree not to have a social contract, then they have a social contract with one clause (not to have a social contract).

    Therefore pure anarchy cannot exist.
