So this was just a random idea of what I wanted to read. Does anyone know of any stories where Harry talks to Tonks and gets to know her while she's in Hogwarts? So I guess his first year. And I don't mean the R-Series. The stories don't have to be Harry/Tonks or anything, just where he actually talks to her before she leaves school. The closest I've ever seen to this, other than the R-series, which doesn't count cause she's his age in that, is Thief of Hogwarts, and that only happens on the train ride back.

Indeed. Chapter seven has been 95% complete for a couple months now, and I'll try to finish it up sometime this week. I have big plans for Tonks in the fic.

...uh, hate to break it to you, but Tonks was never at Hogwarts as a student the same time as Harry.

Canonically, she was born in 1973, so she turns eleven in 1984, and her final year at Hogwarts would end in the spring of 1991 - and Harry starts his year the exact term afterwards in September 1991. Thus, there's no overlap.

 

That's never stopped anyone from lowering her age (a bit) and bumping her a year down.

Anyway: Oh God not again!

 

A few Odd Ideas from Rorschach's Blot went this way. Despite all the data being present in OotP, it wasn't established in the fandom that Tonks missed Harry by a summer until people really started to care about the details.

 

I'm not sure what your point is? It's kind of the point of fanfiction to mess around with 'what-ifs'. Neither her or Harry were in Slytherin, yet they both are in my story. It's interesting to read about what would happen if that were canon.

 

Ah, my bad. I think I got a fanon fact fixed up with canon. Still, know any stories where the author puts her there? XD

I keep reading this thread title as, "Harry actually stalks Tonks in Hogwarts."

In my eyes that would be a much more awesome fic.

That could either be a great creepy!Harry one-shot or a surprisingly accurate depiction of how a shy eleven-year-old might act when crushing on a seventeen-year-old.

 

I actually didn't mention Control, though I did think of it right after posting. Funny that.

 

Yeah, I thought Anonymous58 might have a double alias or something, so I typed 'vincet' into google with darklordpotter. Control popped up, though now I look more closely, google 'corrected' it to vincent. Long story short, it appears I spastically edited out my initial rec of Control for no good reason

 

There was one I found a while back, but didn't subscribe to (it was a WiP) where Tonks decides that having Harry as a 'friend' will be beneficial - she's a halfblood who has her pureblooded parent cast out of her family. In the fic she believed this to be a huge disadvantage in life.

She, of course, decides the best way to have Harry be her friend is molesting him and teaching him darker magic, and making sure he develops Dark Arts Dependency, with no idea as to what he's actually casting. I gave up at the point when Harry broke through the memory charm Dumbledore had placed him under, and suddenly realized he was Lord Hadrian Potter-Black, seventeenth Warlock of Blackmoor, or something.

But you could probably find it if you searched.


Although it isn't at Hogwarts, Bluminious' fic The Thief of Hogwarts had Harry and Tonks interacting, although looks abandoned.

 

I read that once I think. It never got past the second chapter though, from what I can remember. Plus it focused more on the sexual stuff rather than actually having a story, which isn't really what I'm looking for.

And yeah, Thief of Hogwarts seems to be abandoned, unless the author is just doing one of those several-month-long hiatuses XD

 

Eh, maybe if it was the other way around.

Tonks posing as Harry's friends/acquaintances in daily life in order to get close to him?
