Canon to the books, I figure something like this would be useful for the fanfic writers here.

Tags: Messy hair, lightning-bolt scar, glasses.
Traits: Brave, unmotivated, snarky, modest, shy.

Hermione Granger
Tags: Buckteeth, bushy hair.
Traits: Studious, bossy.

Severus Snape
Tags: Greasy hair, hooked nose, sallow skin.
Traits: Petty, over-idealizing romantic.

Voldemort
Tags: Snake-like face, pale skin.
Traits: Evilly evil evil, mentally-deranged.

Go ahead, correct and contribute. I'm fairly sure a few of these points are wrong.

 

I can't believe I never realized that Snape has greasy hair.

 

I don't know why this would be useful as everyone knows about these.

Uh... was I being condescending? Wasn't my intention. I barely remember canon characterizations, let alone tags, thought it'd be something that could be expanded on, and be purposed as a useful guideline for others.

You listed Harry's scar as a tag people might have forgotten. Oh, and Voldemort as evil. Although fair's fair, that last one could be useful for some slash writers, I suppose.

 

We should finally pin down the gender and sexual preference of every single character. The uproar would be epic.

Speaking of tags, I quite enjoy the tags on the thread itself especially:

Why are all the tags negative? I mean, the idea is pretty stupid in the first place but Snape is much more than a petty romantic. Hermione hasn't had buckteeth in years.

 

This is a very useful technique when dealing with unfamiliar or original characters.

But the Harry Potter cast is a group of established characters we all know. Rowling's characters may not have always had good characteristics, but they were well-defined and characterized.

Unnecessary.

 

About the tags, it's useful and pointless at the same time. It would be useful if it were a new fandom, but the Harry Potter fandom is almost 15 years old, there is nothing new about it.
