Any stories in which Harry subverts canon situations through common sense/intelligence? I was thinking of something in the vein of Almost a Squib or Harry the Hufflepuff.

Not quite in the spirit of Almost a Squib, but some that come to mind are VINCET by nos tres reges and Wit of the Raven by japanese-jew. Also lulu42's Path of Decision.

All feature cunning Harrys who think before they act (though the one in lulu42's is also utterly insane).

 

Well, you've probably read it, but On the Way to Greatness.

ntr's The General, where Harry uses his brain, but is still a teenager therefore makes mistakes.

HP & the Second Life by alienyouthct (joehundredaire). And yeah, it's joehundredaire, so YMMV. A lot.

Forging the Sword (though, again, you've probably read it).
