Uh... is it just me or did the thread in For Review about Methods of Rationality just... vanish?

Was it against the rules or something, or just a glitch, or was I completely hallucinating the 3 pages of discussions?

It's currently in the Trash Bin. Still viewable if you're not logged in (though you need to find it through Google or something - searching for it here doesn't work if you can't access the board), but not as a low ranked DLP member like me. Or maybe it's a newer user - not sure which.

Actually, I've always wondered why that's the case: even if a fic is judged to be garbage, sometimes the threads about them are comedy gold, or otherwise interesting. IMO the Trash Bin should be accessible to all, though perhaps with the threads locked.

Since I can't access it, I'm assuming its a perk for donating.

Since I can't either, you assume wrong.

Uh, as far as I know there are no restrictions on the Recycling Bin (other than not being able to start a topic, of course). And since guests can view it, it makes no sense for logged-in users to be unable to view it.

I guess Raven'll have to answer this one.

Other than the stuff listed on the Donation site, there should be no other difference between normal users and donors.

Something with 3 stars goes in the Recycling Bin, something with less goes in the Trash Bin, which is hidden. At least, that's how I understand it. Something that's readable but not Library material should go in the Almost Recommended threads.

Ah. Apparently it did actually disappear from my viewing - still can't see the link there, oephyx.

So any reason it was trashed? Last I remember, it was oscillating between a 2 and a 4. Did it just end up as a 2 when someone took a look?

I had this exact same problem for a while actually. I can now view it, but it's been lost to me for a while, before that.

    I was wondering about that.

Edit: And I can't reply to it. Was the thread closed or something?

Ah, indeed, it is not in the recycling bin but rather in the trash bin. I'd say it's a mistake.

    The Trash Bin

This is where the unworthy are relegated. I had thought it was a myth or joke until now.

The story of concern is currently rated 3.32 with 100 votes, so I tend to think this was mis-filed.

I'm assuming we can't reply because only hopeless fics are supposed to go there...

I'm pretty sure I've always had access (but I rarely need it). Sounds like a glitch to me.

I always thought the Recycling Bin = The Trash Bin. But was renamed because authors were getting butt-hurt when their shit ended up there.

I didn't even know that there was a seperate Trash Bin. Why is it hidden from some people? It would be a great way to show what not to do (since the Recycling Bin is more like, You can do this, just do it better). Open it up for all, says I.

Oh, and MoR doesn't belong in there anyway, just based on its rating.

I've moved it to The Recycling Bin. Not sure how it ended up in the Trash Bin, must've been a slip of the hand.

We'll consider opening up The Trash Bin to viewing.

Being able to view the trashbin would be really cool, actually.

    Would love to see this.

So... this Trash Bin is, in essence, DLP's very own Chamber of Secrets?

Not really, we already have the Chamber of Secrets.
