The good news is it's included in my rent. The bad news is it sucks. I know the package is $60 a month and has a 135GB cap. It seems like I should be able to do better if I shopped around myself, but this is fiber and somehow better than 46% of Canadian connections apparently. Honestly I pay for good data and use my phone as a hotspot when I get too fed up with it.

i think this explains why i never bother with any online multiplayer, not to mention the constant service interruptions every hour at h:10m and h:40m.

keep in mind our service is the most expensive of all latin america, and also a state run monopoly.

Amusingly, the new plan costs £2/month more than the old one:

I cheated. This is actually a server I have in France since I'm at work and can't post a screenshot of my work one. My home internet is barely a tenth of those speeds.

For my UK guys, do you have any non-virgin recommendations since they're not available in my area. Currently with Sky Fibre but Plusnet and EE seem to be both faster and cheaper. I'm thinking about EE because they give unlimited Anytime Calls. The only issue is that I've seen online that they tend to throttle speeds.

Numerous people have told me to go with one of the big three: Virgin (Which I can't get), Sky (Which I do have but charges me £47 a month) or BT (Who don't offer unlimited anytime calls).

Last summer when this thread started, I noted some of the internet speeds and grew a bit jealous as I was receiving only forty up and twenty down. So, I switched over to the cable company in my area. Wife's employer plays for the connection and we get basic cable now for $20 a month plus HBO.

EDIT: using a closer server gives me a couple of Mbps more (121) down. Not bad.

The upload bandwidth skews the percentile, most likely.

Not too bad for mine. Internet was one of the most important criteria for buying my place.

Sad thing is, this is way faster than my connection was for the first several years I was on the internet. My max sustained DL speed used to be 3.2kbps on an outstanding day.

Because I live between two soy bean/corn fields on a street that (from intersection to intersection) literally has only three houses on our side, this is as good as it gets: Phone lines that are in the neighborhood of 70 years old, which drop a connection the second it sprinkles a little rain.
