The fandom is drowning in time travel and rebirth fics of various characters: Harry, Hermione, Severus, Draco, SI and OCs. Yet when it comes to James Potter the man rarely gets a mention (The Lie I've Lived by jbern sort of) despite him being somone with a lot to fix and potentially a better foundation to start from if he was reborn or time travelled. So here is the challenge:

Starting point:
The last words James Potter heard were 'Avada Kedavra' in a hateful hiss before his vision was blinded with sickly green light and then there was darkness.

Ressurection: You can choose how James is reborn:
1) He meets a ROB who sends him back.
2) The Pervelle line marrying into the Potters gives him a link to Death and so he meets Death who sends him back.
3) Death doesn't like having a master so to prevent Harry getting the hallows He interferes with James death.
4) The ritual Lilly performed affects James and interacts with Voldemorts death curse so he ends up with the lightning bolt scar and thrown back in time to his younger self.

Knowledge:
1) (Easy mode) James gets a preview or download of what might have been his son's future.
2) (Hard Mode) James wakes up with only his knowledge to the point where he died.

Era:
1)(Easy mode) James can either be sent back to his 6th or 7th Year in Hogwarts.
2) (Hard mode) James can wake up or be reborn the day after his death.

Objectives:
1) Deal with the rat
2) Attack the Dark lord's base of power: his supporters, politics and finance.
3) Save Harry, bonus points for saving Lily and Sirius too.
4) Stay out from under Dumbledore's thumb.
5) Prepare the marauders for War
6) Kill Voldemort

Optional side Missions:
1) Keep the prophecy secret/Gag Sibil.
2) Make allies of old enemies: Regulus or Severus
3)Deal with Bella
4) Save an appendage of your choice belonging to Moody (eye, part of nose or leg)
5) Save Gideon and Fabian.

James characteristics: Choose your buffs and debuffs wisely.
1) Full knowledge only to date or beyond.
2) Full Auror training under Moody which does or does not include muscle memory/reactions.
3) Experience working during war time and fighting death eaters.
4) Heir to the Potters. Full access to Potter knowledge, political power, allies and wealth. (Whatever you decide that is: a lot or very little.)
5) Enhanced maturity/ war weary/ obsessive drive to protecthis future family.
6) Transfiguration prodigy and the maturity to have the drive to make the most of this.
7) PTSD from you know...months of exile under Fidelius, paranoia, being betrayed by one of his closest friends and then murdered almost casually, effortlessly by the Dark Lord.
8) Hormones of younger self, lack of emotional control.
9)Worry that he won't get Lily to love him again.
10) He can or he cannot speak of his future knowledge. Geas lock?
11) His full adult magic does or does not travel back with him.
12) He did or did not get fully informed of the details of the war wile he was in exile under the fidelius.
