She said he would die, and he died. Therefore it counts.

Despite seeming to be batshit crazy, Trelawney was never really wrong about any major predictions.

Well, this thread is... slightly random.

But yeah, Harry got dead. Trelawney was pretty on the ball, even if she was a bit of a fruit about it. And slightly crazy. And drunk.

And we all know exactly what her "incense" was.

Actually, there was no way she couldn't have been right. Harry would have died of old age someday, unless of course he was immortal/elven/vampire/insertyoufavoriteclichéhere...

I can't remember, but did she ever mention if it would be a violent death or what have you? Anyway, she has the Inner Eye. Fear.

Safe prediction, as everyone knows gingers are fucking useless.

Meh, I suspect some self-fulfilling prophecy here. Didn't Trelawney keep telling Hermione how lacking in talent she was? Add that to the fact that Divination was an elective, well...*shrug*

That's not her making a prediction at all, just a case of divination "lore." Like that "wand of elder, never prosper" nonsense.

Again - the cards have nothing to do with her, and everything to do with lore. If the card means a specific thing, it doesn't matter who draws it.

In conclusion: when she wasn't being possesed by teh uber Sight, Trelawney was a drunken cuntsack who deserves no credit. To be fair, she was no less useless than the centaurs, who's basic divination skills consisted of:

Centaur: Human, you know nothing of divining future events.
Human: Alright then, what's going to happen?
Centaur: I'm not telling you, human.
Human: But...how do I know that you actually know the future?
Centaur: Your arrogant, human mind wouldn't understand. Human.
    Human:....
    Centaur: Mars is bright tonight.

I think you're wrong here, death by an AK counts as natural.

Btw: Trelawney predict what was going to be on the end-of-the-year exams. (even though she set the exams, the prediction was still true ;) )

I didn't say it was. I was asking if she elaborated a bit. Did you miss the 'what have you'? Think before you type.

    As for Blaise...
    ...and? Still happened.
True. But it is pretty cool how it actually happens to Sirius.

The last one is kinda bleh.

There was also a point where Trelawney made a comment about Harry being meant for death because his birthday was in December (or something like that). Harry thought Trelawney was lying - after all, his birthday is in July - but if you think about it, she was sort of right. Harry had a portion of Voldemort's soul in him, and Voldemort was born on December 31. There was this whole Mugglenet podcast about it before DH came out.

I think there was a bit in PoA where it is mentioned that Trelawney says one student will die early every year. Then Mcgonagall mentions in passing that Cedric Digory was said by Trelawney to die early too.

I think this happened either before or after a quidditch match. Harry was, I believe, thinking about the Grim and McGonagall tells him not to worry about what Trelawney says, as she always tries to predict someone's death.

However, I don't think Cedric was ever mentioned.

You might be thinking of McGonagall mentioning that Trelawney did that to someone every year - repeatedly predicting their death.
