Pick a bracket, say who wins and why.

    Basic rules:

    - Assume characters are as they were at the end of DH, unless they were dead or seriously injured at this time.

    - For dead or seriously injured characters, assume they are fighting in the state they were in before their death/injury (e.g. Dumbledore is fighting prior to being cursed by the ring horcrux).

    - Assume no special weapons or battlefield advantage.

    - No one has the Elder Wand. Everyone is fighting with their properly matched wand.

    - No one has any allies, including creatures.

Welp, I feel pretty safe to say that Dumbledore would win against Fleur. Same with Grindelwald over Yaxley, and Voldemort over Bellatrix (she'd probably just roll over and give it to him).

Edit: fine, voldemort vs Bellatrix. Even if they were enemies, voldemort would roll right over Bellatrix. If we are looking at DH, she would let him win, as her devotion knows no bounds.

Lily over Snape as he wouldn’t hurt her. Simp.

Greyback over Hermione. She would panic.

Slughorn over Ron, even though I rate Ron. Slughorn Went toe to toe with voldemort.

I mean, I have to imagine Voldemort steamrolls his side of the board. No special weapons would nullify the brother wand effect in theory, and that's assuming Harry even makes it past Fenrir.

So really this is Voldemort Vs ?

I mean, Luna is a wildcard but I somehow doubt she beats Voldemort.

Edit: The Bronze match is the only match of real interest let's be honest here.

You guys had ONE instruction. If you don't want to play, just don't post...

    Bracket: 15

    Albus Dumbledore vs. Fleur Delacour

IN THE RED CORNER: Albus Dumbledore, master of all forms of magic, specialist in Transfiguration, defeater of Grindelwald, the only one Voldemort ever feared, known for numerous magical discoveries when he was still at school.

IN THE BLUE CORNER: Fleur Delacour, Triwizard Champion, top student from Beauxbatons, blessed with supernatural beauty and charm.

Against another male opponent, Fleur's looks and charm might have given her an extra advantage, but Albus Dumbledore is unlikely to be distracted by her beauty. They face off on magic alone.

The contest is not equal, not by a long shot. The real question is: will Fleur be able to put up a fight at all, or does Albus Dumbledore win in a single spell?

In OotP Dumbledore took out two Aurors and three Ministry officials with a single spell, though it was by surprise. Fleur is probably the equal of an Auror, but probably not much stronger.

Fleur likely knows her disadvantage and opens with her most powerful defensive spell. It blocks Dumbledore's opening attack, but immediately puts Fleur on the defensive.

Dumbledore takes her out with his second spell, which breaks her shield.

    WINNER: ALBUS DUMBLEDORE

James Potter vs Barty Crouch Sr.

Barty Crouch Sr. is a pansy ass old fart who is known for being a lying douchebag and not much else. I guess he at least was able to keep his actions unknown enough to stay out of jail for years.

James Potter is a magically gifted up and coming superstar in the Aurors, well known for actually managing to push Voldemort back more than three times. Among his magical skills is the ability to transform into a Deer and run down pansy ass old farts.

The choice is clear, old and busted loses.

    Winner: James Potter

There's only one RO32 match where the winner isn't obvious, and that's mostly because neither of them have actually done shit in canon.

Round 13: James Potter vs Barty Crouch Snr.

Crouch Snr. has all the experience the Head of DMLE has, along with the hypothetical feats of magic he surely must have done in war-time. As seen in GoF, even after 15 years since his fall from grace, he is highly respected in the Ministry of Magic. On the other hand, he couldn't keep his own former Azkaban-inmate son under the Imperius Curse permanently, and fell for the classic "how the turntables" move. Weak.

James Potter became an Animagus at the age of 15, showing signs of being a Transfiguration prodigy, but spent the rest of his time at Hogwarts frolicking in the woods with a dog, a wolf and a rat. He failed to recognize that his own BFF was a spy, and dies without a wand in his hand.

While his regular hexing of Snivellus is highly appreciated, there wasn't any real impact due to it. Not to mention, his lifelong rival got the last laugh. Snape indirectly killed him and his wife, kicked his son around for 6 years and got his youngest grandson, the only one with his wife's remarkable eyes, named after him. Pitiful.

    Winner: Barty Crouch Snr.

    Nymphadora Tonks vs. Antonin Dolohov
IN THE RED CORNER: Nymphadora Tonks one of the newest Aurors, a metamorphmagus and member of the Order of the Phoenix.

IN THE BLUE CORNER: A member of Voldemort's inner circle, has killed Remus Lupin in a duel, severly injured and almost killed Hermione during one and he was one of the Death Eaters involved in the killing of the order members Fabian and Gideon Prewett.

It has to be said that we have never seen Tonks actually win a fight or even just land a single spell on an opponent, neither during the Battle in the Department of Mystery, the Battle of the Seven Potters nor the Battle of Hogwarts does show any particularly feat except that she managed not to get instantly killed by Bellatrix, who does eventually still kill her in the last battle.

Dolohovs experience is both more impressive, but also less so, since we know he killed and fought several powerful wizards, but Hermione does manage to silence him when she was just 16, while he still won that fight it's still telling that she managed to hit him with a spell in the first place. She also manages to defeat him with Petrificus Totalus in Deathly Hallows when he and Rowle were fighting the Trio after they broke the Taboo, though she did so when she was out of sight and he was engaging with Harry. During the Battle of Hogwarts he was also stunned by Dean Thomas, though again he was focusing on Harry and the Trio who were hiding under the cloak nearby.

Overall I'd say Dolohov wins in a 1 on 1 duel though, since his worst feats were when he had to focus on multiple people at once and the only 1 on 1 duel we know he had ended with him murdering Remus Lupin whom I consider a more impressive duelist than Tonks.

    WINNER: Antonin Dolohov

    Kingsley Shacklebolt vs Sirius Black

IN THE RED CORNER: Kingsley Shacklebolt. Active auror, at the top of his game, member of the Order of the Phoenix so presumed limited tutelage from Dumbledore. Minister of Magic to be, but that's admittedly not relevant for combat situations. Literally black.

IN THE BLUE CORNER: Sirius Black. Gifted once upon a time, it's unknown how much Azkaban has ravaged him. Animagus and probably on roughly the same level of "power" (however defined) as James in school but rusty since. Presumed fairly extensive knowledge of dark magic from family upbringing. Also literally Black.

It's fairly clear that Kingsley has the advantage here, I think. Even if Sirius had been at his best, his family background will work against him: as an Auror, Kingsley is literally an anti-dark specialist. That leaves Sirius with schoolboy magic and whatever he picked up before being imprisoned, leaving him probably just slightly below Kingsley. But Sirius' long imprisonment first inside Azkaban and then Grimmauld Place whereas Kingsley was probably involved in active combat has to be considered, so there's not going to be much suspense.

Sirius' remaining advantage is his Animagery. It can't exactly be discounted, since it allowed him to force back a transformed werewolf, but even in the best case it'll only allow Sirius to extend how long the fight lasts. I don't think it can let him eke out a victory.

    WINNER: KINGSLEY SHACKLEBOLT

Bracket #7: Luna Lovegood vs Minerva McGonagall

IN THE RED CORNER: Luna Lovegood, slightly off-kilter teenager extraordinaire, though recently harrowed by some ordeals. Fully recovered, but on the back of only five years of 'proper' education (plus one year of Voldewarts) and with questionable DADA teachers during that time to boot. Did hold her own pretty well in the Ministry, being one of the later Hogwarts students there to be injured.

IN THE BLUE CORNER: Minerva McGonagall. Hogwarts Professor for Merlin knows how long, Was capable of fighting back Snape, though given his double agent status, there's some level of doubt on how much he held back. Also fought Voldemort to a standstill with the aid of Slughorn and Shacklebolt later that day.

The question isn't if McGonagall would win, but how much she feels like treating this as a teaching moment. It's perfectly plausible that she wants to see how far Luna - one of her students and part of an organisation she looks favourably upon - has come in her time at Hogwarts. She is likely too canny and adept to let any unknown spells hit her, but there are significant doubts as to whether she would (need to) take the offensive from the start and finish this as quickly as she is perfectly capable of. Instead, she'll probably look to stay on the defensive until delivering one or two decisive spells, presumably conjurations or transfigurations that a regular Hogwarts student is unlikely to be able to deal with effectively.

If George is running a betting pool and you really want to bet on Luna, probably take the bet for having something hit McGonagall - I'm not saying you're even likely to make money on this, but it's by far the best you're going to get if you want to bet against this Hogwarts Professor.

    WINNER: Minerva McGonagall

Bracket 1: Lily Potter vs. Severus Snape

Snape as he would've appeared if they'd cast closer to the books ^

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

"It was foolish of you to come here tonight, Sev," said Lily. She drew her dressing gown more tightly around herself, but it was short, and it was winter, and the cold air slipped underneath its hem and cooled her blood. "James is going to be back any minute, and if he sees you..."

"Lilliput, I've thought about this moment, about how I would apologise every day for-"

    "Sev, don't."

He was gaunt, and sallow. Deep bags circled his eyes, and his hair was lank against his cheekbones, growing longer again. He hadn't been looking after himself. He shivered. His brown eyes locked on her green ones, and she felt his touch on her mind. Any sympathy she had been holding vanished, along with that faint nostalgic fondness that had crept in at his appearance on her doorstep. Her mind was perfectly clear.

"How dare you. I've asked you to leave, now leave."

"I have to tell you something."

"I don't want to hear it."

"Please!" He snapped. Always so quick to anger. "It's about your son. If you would just let me apologise, you have to know how I feel about you."

Lily flicked her wand at her loose hair, and it gathered itself into a tight bun. Severus took a step back. He remembered what that meant. She didn't put her wand away again.

"I remember how you really feel about me, Severus."

    "That's not fai-"

"I've heard about you, you know. I keep my ear out, and I recognise it. When Ellie told me about the wounds Benjy got, that wouldn't heal, I knew. When the Prophet reported on the Muggleborn twins in Lanarkshire, I knew, Severus."

Even in the faint moonlight, she saw him become suddenly paler. His mouth opened soundlessly, then closed. And then he drew in, and drew himself up, and she faced not Sev but Voldemort's stooge.

"It was a mistake to come here, I agree. A letter would have sufficed." Slowly, he drew his own wand and placed it to his temple. A silvery memory was pulled out. "This will have to do. I do not expect I shall see you again."

"What am I meant to do with this?"

    "What you will."

She summoned a vial from the kitchen, unstoppered it, and he shook the memory free. He looked at her again, his eyes raking across her face angrily. His lip curled. "You're not the woman I remembered. But Potter? I wonder if I ever really saw you at all."

Her first hex caught him in his face, his features erupting into sores and cuts for a scant moment. He caught her second curse on a shield with a crack that split the night, and then countered her first in time to block her spell-chain and take her legs out from under her. He trained his wand on her.

She had been the better of the two of them, at one point, she'd known. Curses though; curses he'd always known better than any wizard of their generation.

There was a cry from upstairs. Harry. Her will hardened.

    "Avada Keda-"

A jet of blue light blasted her into a wall, and her wand sailed into Severus's hand. His face was a rictus of agony as she looked up at him from the floor. He didn't seem able to find the words. He shook his head at her, jaw clenching and unclenching. Red spots in his cheeks.

In one violent motion he snapped her wand, and threw it to the floor.

"You don't deserve this. Not with him. You're just a mare now, pumping out half-bloods purer than you."

Snape turned on his heel, his cloak trailing on the gravel of the drive, and vanished with a pop. There was blood on the ground. He'd splinched, left part of himself behind.

    Voldemort vs Bellatrix

Voldemort - a powerful, talented, merciless wizard with decades of experience in combat. A reputation for fearing no one other than Dumbledore, and even surviving him by escaping was considered noteworthy.

Bellatrix - a powerful, crazy, and cruel witch, with some combat experience from the first war.

Voldemort wins, even if he likely takes some damage along the way. Bellatrix is a very dangerous witch, but Voldemort is on a whole other level compared to almost everyone when it comes to straight up combat. Bella's crazy likely gets in her way during all out combat.

    Winner - Voldemort.

I really don't think Voldemort would take any damage at all HP spells are almost all immediate knock downs.

In OOTP Dumbledore took down Bellatrix with one statue without giving her any attention at all, while fighting Voldemort and looking after Harry and she couldn't do anything and in the FB movies Grindelwald takes out 20-30 aurors with zero problems.

HP powerlevels are kind of fucked even Snape who seems to be the most powerful of the non legenadary wizards gets one shot by Voldemort, Dumbledore or Grindelwald.

Would be cooler to have Grindelwald somewhere in the brackets so he could face Voldemort because that fight would atleast have some speculation.

    Draco Malfoy vs. Bill Weasley

IN THE RED CORNER: Draco Malfoy, the Defeater of Dumbledore, erstwhile holder of the Elder Wand, surviving and not incarcerated Death Eater, bouncing Ferret extraordinaire.

IN THE BLUE CORNER: William "Bill" Weasley, Head Boy, Curse Breaker, survivor of the Battle of Hogwarts and Seducer of Veela.

Draco Malfoy is neither the most accomplished nor the most talented Death Eater. His presumed knowledge of the Dark Arts might give him an edge.

Bill Weasley is a talented wizard and well liked, with some power behind him to become Head Boy and Gringotts Curse Breaker. His membership in the Order of the Phoenix and successful participation in various battles show that he is not to be discounted.

After a short exchange of spells, the red-haired man shows his greater experience and talent as he disables his opponent with a few obscure but quick spells that leave the younger Malfoy flat on his back, to the eternal shame of his family.

Lily Potter vs Severus Snape -both dead, no winner.

Voldemort vs Bellatrix - both dead, no winner.

Neville vs Harry - bitch plz. Harry wins because he's a better duelist. Neville got some spotlight because of the prophecy, that doesn't make them equally good in a fight.

Greyback vs Hermione - Greyback dead, Hermione wins by default.

Kingsley vs Sirius - Sirius dead, Kingsley wins by default.

Slughorn vs Ron - Slughorn has more experience/knowledge. Ron is a great friend but I can't recall him being particularly badass against an experienced opponent. I think Slughorn wins.

Luna vs McGonagall - see above, McGonagall wins.

Moody vs Wormtail - both dead, no winner.

Barty Crouch vs Flitwick - Crouch dead, Flitwick wins by default.

Amelia Bones vs Lupin - both dead, no winner.

Lucius vs Ginny - Lucius has more experience, but he's a ratfuck coward, Ginny wins.

Yaxley vs Grindelwald - Yaxley's fate unknown, but he might have been captured vs Grindelwald being definitely dead. Yaxley wins by probability.

Barty Crouch Sr vs James Potter - both dead, no winner.

Draco vs Bill - Bill wins by dragon.

Dumbledore vs Fleur - D dead, Flower Power wins by default.

Dolohov vs Tonks - Dolohov fought Flitwick in Battle of Hogwarts, so either dead or Azkaban. Not sure. But it doesn't matter because Bill wins Match 23 by default and wins 28 by dragon against either Fleur or Dolohov.

    ---------------------

    Match 17 - everyone's dead

Match 18 - Harry vs Hermione - Harry wins. Bitch plz. Not to knock Hermione but Harry's better in a fight.

Match 19 - Kingsley vs Slughorn - Kingsley wins because Slug's experience advantage doesn't exist anymore.

Match 20 - McGonagall wins by default.

Match 21 - Flitwick wins by default.

Match 22 - Ginny either wins by default or loses to Yaxley, but Flitwick wins Match 27 against either because [most] Hogwarts professors are certified badass.

Match 23 - Bill wins by default.

Match 24 - as said above, doesn't matter.

    ---------------------------------------quarter finals---------------------------

Match 25 - Harry wins by default.

Match 26 - McGonagall vs Kingsley - Kingsley wins because he's an Auror.

Match 27 - Flitwick wins anyway.

Match 28 - Bill wins by dragon.

    ----------------------semi finals------------------

Match 29 - Harry vs Kingsley - a few years down th road from DH this would be much tougher to answer. At the end of DH, 17 year old Harry vs Kingsley.... I think Kingsley edges out the win.

Match 30 - regardless of a dragon, I think Flitwick wins because he must have an endless bag of tricks in his sleeve. Probably a literal bag of tricks in his literal sleeve.

    ----------------finals----------

Match 31 - Kingsley vs Flitwick - I think the Auror prevails here.

Bronze Match - Harry vs Bill - Bill wins by dragon.

    Bracket 9:

Barty Crouch Jr vs Filius Flitwick

IN THE RED CORNER: Barty Crouch Jr, impersonator of Mad-Eye, torturer of the Longbottoms, skilled in the Imperius curse and a survivor of Azkaban.

IN THE BLUE CORNER: Filius Flitwick, Duelling champion, Charms Master, Head of Ravenclaw House, defeater of Antonin Dolohov.

Barty Crouch Jr is an insane but intelligent duelist, skilled in the use of Dark Arts and their defense. He is skilled at tricking, impersonating and ambushing.

Filius Flitwick is an aging magical powerhouse. Once skilled in the noble art of duelling, he has returned to the the art in anticipation of a coming battle. He is prone to surprise attacks, but is extremely good at fortifying a place if given time.

Barty Crouch immediatly attacks with dark spells learnt from Lord Voldemort. Flitwick is taken by surprise, and had this been a year earlier, he would be dead. He defends and is immediately on the back foot.

Both highly intelligent wizards know that even though Crouch Jr has the advantage, Flitwick would have the edge in a longer fight. Flitwick concentrates on defending against Crouch's crazed and powerful attacks, with both of them attempting to alter the environment to their liking. Flitwick conjures items to help him out, while Crouch is kept busy destroying them.

Crouch Jr tries to lure Flitwick into an attack with deliberate lapses in defence, but Flitwick is wise to the tactic.

Crouch Jr outlasts Fliwick and defeats him.

    WINNER: Barty Crouch Jr

    8. Peter Pettigrew - Mad-Eye Moody.

Wormtail, while not the strongest wizard, is full of trickery and low cunning. As proved when Sirius cornered him, he does have some skill and isn't afraid to use it if it means his life. He will try everything, no matter how dishonorable or immoral, to gain upper hand quickly and kill his opponent.

And if it were lesser wizard against him, it might have worked, but not against Moody. Moody has seen it all in his long career as an Auror. No matter what Pettigrew threw at him, his instincts are still on point and his skill much more formidable, and he has little trouble countering the rat and his flashy moves. He slowly gained ground on Pettigrew and once the rat ran out of ideas, Moody saw all the opening he needed, and stoke hard.

Moody disliked killing his enemies, but this time he will make an exception. There will be no mercy for the traitor. For his brothers in arms, for the wizards and witches that fought with him, and gave their lives for the sake of their world, he will break his convictions, and use a spell he hated the most.

    "Avada Kedavra."

    WINNER: Mad-Eye Moody
