I'm looking for a decent fic where Harry is raised in the life of organised crime. So Mafia, Yakuza, Triad, whatever. I've never come across a decent one of these before except for a single chapter in Technomad's 'Harry Potter as written by...' where he did Harry Potter as written by the author of the Godfather or something.

 

Well there is "taming snakes" which after an uncomfortable first chapter, is pretty decent.

I think Watermage wrote a couple of fics of this kind too, though I've never read them.

 

I'm not really interested in a 'street-smart' Harry who is part of a gang. They're not very organised.

 

A recent fic that may be going in this direction is Death Before Dishonour.

 

There's "Cosa Nostra" by NightFox, that's not bad and has Harry being raised by the Don of the London Mafia, just hasn't been updated for awhile.

 

Already added. This may have inspired me to search for fics where Harry runs a racket at Hogwarts.

This would likely be one of the most OOC Harry types out there. I'd totally read it though.

Uncle by Sam_Storyteller is pretty good...

 

This is the only one of the three that I have that hasn't been mentioned yet. I liked it a lot at the time, but it's been a few years, so I'm not sure how well it aged.

 

2004? I doubt it has. I'll look over it anyway.

 

Cosa Nostra is the best one I've read in this theme, but it's been a while since I last looked at it, and it's incomplete from what I remember.

 

I think I can say Blood Prince has aged terribly. Moving onto Cosa Nostra now.

 

So here's a Yakuza one called 893 that I had kind of a guilty pleasure thing with - I had to put it down for a while and pick it up again later a few times, but it wasn't the worst thing I'd read at the time. Just kind of cringeworthy here and there. Your mileage and all that.

What was that HP/Dresden crossover that had Harry Potter working for John Marcone? That would count, I think.
