I would have posted it here, but the forum's anti-necro measures prevented it.

Anyone else remember that thing, back in 2010, when a bunch of people got excited over NASA's discovery invention of an organism that used arsenic instead of Phosphorous? Well, turns out that it was bullshit.

    Anyone have thoughts on this?

I'm kind of disappointed that this is never going to happen now.

Play that funky music, White boy!

Can't you select the "I am aware that this thread is rather old but I still want to make a reply" checkbox? It's at the bottom of the page, right next to the big yellow exclamation mark triangle.

I did so. It still didn't work. Not quite sure whether the software choked on me - it 505'd shortly after - or whether my trackpad's going on me and the damn thing just refused to recognize the click. Regardless, wasn't working.

I always expected that life evolved on other worlds would be very different in terms of the molecules that make up its genetics. Never knew that there was a theory that stated that it was impossible.

So, severely disappointed to hear this news.

Anybody know of any work on developing synthetic base pairs?

I, for one, was ready to welcome our new shampoo-fearing overlords.
