A few years ago I remember reading a fanfiction, and I've been trying to find it for months, but I can't remember the title or author, and the computer I had it bookmarked on is long dead.

It's a HP/LOTR fanfiction.

I remember it done in the format of Harry telling his grandchild about his past as bedtime stories. In it Voldemort tried to kill Harry, but instead sent him to the LOTR universe.

Harry, who had read the books, started going around middle-earth doing things like collecting the treasure on Smag's corpse, after removing the curse upon it, then taking it to the dwarves it originally belonged to and trading it back to them for some mythril armor, not telling them he had already recovered the treasure until the deal was made.

Harry killed a balrog (sp? the fire and shadow monster from the mines of moria) and collected things like it's blood for potions ingredients (galdalf had trouble believing harry killed one when it's mentioned as I recall).

Harry started doing several rituals after discovering the founders had all done rituals. I think he learned about that from one of their journals, but i can't remember.

When meeting Gandalf, Gandalf was initially very distrustful of Harry (especially after finding out about Harry's rituals), but Harry eventually won him over.

Harry struck a friendship with Strider/Aragorn before the events in LOTR.


That's about all I can remember from it, any help identifying and locating it would be greatly appreciated. If noone here knows of this fic but knows another forum in which I could ask about it, please direct me there as well.

*edit- it's Buying Time Book 1 by Highbrass. didn't realize the post telling me right forum to post in had the answer as well.....I feel stupid now...
