    First trailer.

I like the concept for this film - showing Oz in his youth and using his talents as a con artist and an illusionist to defeat the witches who have a real magic at their disposal.

It has a good cast - James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Ted Raimi (what? I like him) and cameo from Bruce Campbell. Though I'm still not sure about Franco playing someone who should be a very charismatic person.

Also, the idea of changing the aspect ratio and colors between worlds seems interesting.

All in all, I plan to watch it when it comes out.

I think Franco will do the role justice. I've been waiting for this movie for awhile, since I heard about it a year ago, and seeing the first promo I'm still hyped about it. Hopefully the movie lives up to expectations.

You know, It's pretty sad that I was expecting this thread to be about Oz (our mod) in some way, shape, or form, and not a movie reference at all.

Lol@prequel because that went so well for Star Wars, amrite?

When I saw the thread title in New Posts, I thought it was Ozzeh's birthday.

On top of the general awesomeness that is the trailer, I really love it when the music kicks in. I can't find the track, so I think it's part of the original soundtrack for the movie. Can't wait for more to be released.

Some opening parts reminds me strongly of Harry Potter's soundtrack (from 6th movie). And the rest is classic Elfman that I recognized without even knowing he was doing the soundtrack for this film.

As long as there's plenty of pie to go around on set, I'm sure he'll do fine.

I see from that picture that Oz has met Thing.

Heh, I had just gotten around to plowing through the last half of Son of a Witch last night. I've gotten each of the sequels to Wicked as they came out, but, these days, it's so hard to drag my ass away from the computer to read a real book...

    Two more to go.

As for the trailer: I guess they're trying to go a step beyond the old movie's transition from sepia to color, by not only changing from black & white to color, but 4:3 to widescreen. :awesome

I do like the over-saturation of the colors.

That scene with all the teapot houses reminded me of a section of Alice: The Madness Returns.

Who knows, maybe we'll see some halfway decent HP/Oz crossovers come out of this. Lord knows no one ever made a decent Wicked crossover, despite the abundance of material they were given.

I guess the songfic regurgitators were too busy using their heads to plumb the depths of the musical's ass to notice the depth of the books.

    A new trailer.

I liked the previous one more, but this one is not bad either.

Saw this tonight, and it was...ok. I wouldn't say it was great, but it wasn't particularly bad. The plot was incredibly obvious, some of the characterisation was severely lacking, and the CGI was weirdly mixed, but there was a fair bit of fun to be had. The finale was pleasingly inventive, especially.
