Kaczyński giving up Prime Ministership was a surprisingly shrewd move, especially since he'll still be calling the shots a lot of the time. He's too big a figure in the party to just be satisfied with presiding over the party members in the parliament.

blob, L&J doesn't have supermajority, although simple majority without a coalition is bad enough.

They won't be able to change the constitution, but apart from that...
    we're pretty much k'fu*d...
But it will be great season for political humour again, just like the last time ;)
Interesting thing is, the exit polls predict not a single left wing party in parliament...

Considering that whatever "left" we had in the last 10 years has done fuck all, all that's changed is we've gone even further right.

Now we need only wait until L&J appoints a bishop to a ministerial post. :fire

And politicians to bishop seats, full union of state and church. They are, after all, more catholic than Pope Francis himself ;)

"Francis ain't pope. There was only one pope. Our pope. The Glorious Saint Eternal John Paul II. Anything else is just a pretender." :p

Seriously speaking, we're fucked - basically "Heil Kaczyński". Plus, Kukiz in parliament - the fuck have you been drinking? As for the left, I'm only happy that Razem got those 3 percent so they can get some money and rock the boat in the next elecetions - if they don't disintegrate.

Yeah, idiots who don't read papers, don't understand basic facts and young shitheads who don't remember the first time that PiS was in power, made this shit happen. I just hope it will bite them in the ass and bite them hard.

What do you expect from people who don't read daily newspapers, don't read weekly newsmagazines, don't understand the basic concepts that are esential for the existance of a country and listen to a guy that claims that no taxes is the best thing ever, and #fucklogic about where will he take the money to run this country from.

Basically, most of voters are a bunch of stupid fucks whos only distinction from apes is that the voters don't fling real shit at you.

When I read a topics like this I always get so angry cuz if you all are so smart why the hell do not you run for office.

The ppl that voted for L&J are not idiots, they decide that this is how they want Poland to be.

Anyone who is smart and tolerant understand that in democratic elections works like that.

As for your fears I would point it out that economic nothing will change(tell me what big economic changes happened in last 10 years that the gov was need for or was main power behind?). Foreign policy will not change, Poland will be ignored as it was ignored and that is about it (how long Poland said to Germans "Russia gov should not be trused" ?). We will not leave EU, at most we will be trying to act as UK to get more money.

Tell me what do you ppl fear ? Last time L&J for in power it was the same as PO was in power, there were corruption, lies ect.

They only thing that will change is this, we will have new actors playing the same roles.

But for the love of God stop calling ppl that went and voted idiot cuz they acted as they should the Big problem is the 50% that stayed home.

PS. I am sorry for my poor English skills

I will leave this for others to respond, mostly, since I lack the details on Polish interior politics -- though your hard economic numbers are very nice, and I'm quite inclined to label anyone who votes based on emotions an "idiot" -- but I will say that this exact mindset ("it doesn't matter what I vote because everyone is the same anyway") is the problem to begin with. Yes, everyone is the same -- in that they are all democratic parties, and want different degrees of centrist politics. This is good and healthy for a country.

Anyone who does want radically different things is just that -- radical, and quite unhealthy. And this includes both left (pre-reality-check-Syriza) and right (Austria's FPÖ, France's Front National, ...) populists, as well as their voters.

The problem is this L&J is not radical, yes Kaczyniski yells a lot but and here is the big but he can not do much cuz his party (as almost all outside PSL and SLD) can splinter, it already did twice. Yes they reformed and come back to L&J but it shows how unstable it is. That is why I am not worried plus the two years he was in power showed that he don't plan much for economic side of things.

I just hate why ppl attack voters, and later on they say that they are tolerant ect. You can not be tolerant if you consider so many ppl with diffrent opinion as idiots and expect them to accepted you. That is stupid.

It is not that, the only party is this election that was trying to talked about changes was "Nowoczesna Party" (I voted for them), rest of them are Radical or the same thing. We don't have a real left side party, what we have is mostly right, central right, super duper right and Korwin :)

Good joke. Do you remember 2005-2007 and the entire debacle with seeking "the system"? It will return. Kaczyński wants revenge for the death of his brother and he will have it. Also, he wants to change Poland into autocratic state with him as the unofficial Chief of State. PiS has a hard-on for Orban and his kind of democracy in Hungary.

So calling people idiots who scream "Raz sierpem, raz młotem..." and later vote for a socialist party with autocratic tendencies is valid.

Pleas give example of laws that was radical that passed, or real action that L&J did. Cuz someone yelling radical opinions is norm for many countrys, what is important is actions they take when in Power.

And whenever I see this kind of argument I get angry because it's just as intellectually dishonest as the argument "you can't talk about X because you don't have experience with it". I can't say shit because I'm not running for office myself? Well, next time you want to complain about, I dunno, a power outage, you better shut the fuck up unless you work in a power plant. Douche.

I say they're idiots and mean it about as seriously as when I say I hate my mother for calling me every other day for a chat. We're not politicians here, nitpicking words like this is the sort of thing you do when you don't have anything of substance to say.

Poland deserves better, but our biggest problem is the stagnant social mindset of most of the country that refuses to get with the times. We have nutjobs like Korwin "representing" us in the EU, calling migrants human trash. Jesus motherfucking Christ. At least he's not in parliament this time.

Politicians like Kaczyński make us look bad on the international stage. I wish the old prick would just retire, but he'll claw for power until he has to shit in a diaper.

Only people who are talking about reforms won't do shit because their biggest concern will be getting reelected into parliament in 4 years instead of, I don't know, taking part in governance.

L&J has majority. Watch them do fuck all with it until 2019 because they won't risk anything that'll turn voters away.

It is not dishonest, it is on the same level like calling ppl that vote for x as idiots. Do you know why they voted for someone ? No you don't, you only know that they gave they vote to this party and that is all. Do you think most voters know what x said, or did ect ? Most voters are uninformed and calling them idiots will make them more likely, to stay home next time and that is When ppl like Korwin Will win.

What Poland needs is more voters, and with hope more ppl will get interested in politic, more ppl will try to act and with that we will get better ppl to vote for.

It will not get accomplished by calling ppl that cast they vote as idiots. Each vote counts!

Of course it is dishonest and arguing whether or not calling people idiots has greater or lesser value in whatever tier system you refer to there doesn't matter, it's just a waste of keystrokes. I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, but most of those lazy non-voters are perfectly capable of doing so and yet don't and stay uninformed by choice. I agree that we need more of them to vote, but that's not what we were discussing. I do congratulate you on a clever and almost successful diversion, however.

The point is that we also need those who do vote to vote smartly. Giving the country to a bunch of right-wing nationalists is not smart. Their reasons for voting that way matter little, it's just not a good thing to do.

And how do you accomplished that, how to you get better ppl interested in Goverment ? Calling them names is the best way in your opinion ?

You get more ppl to vote, you get more ppl talking and you get more ppl thinking and you will not get that saying you voted for x so you are a Idiot.

No it is not, It shows that they don't care enough, and they will not care if you call them idiots.

This is not a topic that you can just say it would be better that only smart ppl voted ect. The more ppl are active in politic live the better, the hope is that eventually everyone will have a good understating what is going on so that they can make the best choices and have best ppl.

Do you know what is sad part, rather then calling ppl idiots you might want to help them understand that Korwin is racist or the fact that Macierewicz lies. But use hard data and actually try to understand that not every one is so smart as you.

There is a somehow good first look about Polish election here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor.../Eurosceptic-party-wins-Polands-election.html

bolko7, fine, perhaps there was too much vitriol in my posts. I still maintain that maybe calling some of them idiots would get the ball rolling. Politeness isn't always the way. They'll just say "oh fuck off" and keep walking. Sometimes you need a scalpel, sometimes a hammer. It's hammer time. I talked to some of my classmates about it today, asked if they voted. A frustratingly high percentage of them just went "eerrrr..." One of them even responded "There were elections yesterday?" C'mon.
