It looks like Steins;Gate is getting a sequel game, which is also being adapted into an anime. Here is the teaser (Spoilers for the original game and anime, of course)

I never played the game, but I loved the anime. The show had its faults, but Okabe and Kurisu more than made up for them. I'm really looking forward to this.

I'm still working through the first one, and I'll give it that it is probably the best adaptation of a Key Visual Arts-esque harem visual novel I've seen, but I don't know how they would have enough material to come up with a sequel, unless it 100% ignores the first show and does its own thing.

Some of the stories from the light novels, manga, and drama CDs will be incorporated into this. Also, given which world-line this takes place in, there should be plenty of material to explore.

There's a lot of material to work with. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Apparently a "new" episode of the Steins;Gate anime was aired a few days ago. Its an alternate take on episode 23 and kicks off the beta timeline.

I don't know how much of it is supposed to be new footage, but I look forward to watching it as soon as I can.

The animé adaptation will have to work to live up to the first one. Steins Gate is one of my favorite animé and the game is fun too.

    I read somewhere that s;g:zero is not a sequel but a spin-off
It will take place in the beta-worldline and okabe will work to get to the canon ending dealing with all the problems et cetera.

I've never played the game but it's sat in my download queue and only seen the first couple of episodes, would it be prudent to watch the show or play the game first?

Two totally different experiences. Even the dub vs the sub are totally different experiences, while the dub remains one of the best I've ever seen. Do whatever you like, you'll enjoy all of it.

The anime is an adaption based on the game. Both are quite good. If you want the original, full experience, go with the game. If you want to spend a few evenings watching an anime, do that.
