Of course, DarkButNotEvilHarry isn't the scrawny little boy anymore. He is a matured and sportive teenager. In contrary to many bad fanfics on ff.net, this story actually explains Harry's physical development:

The usual start of Indy!Harry wouldn’t be complete without him facing the Dursleys.

There is the usual shopping spree, starting, of course, with Gringotts:

The author proves his originality when he names the Gringotts’ CEO: “ragnorok”. Though in spite of its great start this fic is a bit of a letdown when the Goblins reveal Harry's ancestry:

So there are just three lines he descend from. This actually is a point where the author could have done better.

The shopping spree then continues with “madam malkins” and after that he enters the darker parts of wizarding London, or – as the author would have written – “london”:

By the way, his new wand is made of “tree of the devil” with a very special core:

Even throughout the usually boring shopping trip the author manages to surprise the reader and create tension. The second chapter even ends with a huge cliffy:

Another very important part of the first chapters is the development of Harry's friendship with Hermione and Ron:

Nevertheless, Indy!Harry has no problems with finding new buddies:

While the aforementioned parts are already great, the story becomes outstanding when the author focusses on the character development. His Harry isn’t just a random superhero but also a vulnerable teenager.

And, of course, he has a life, starting with a flirt in Madam Malkins:

When harry woke up he saw something that would scar him for life. Aunt petunia had come into his room in a red see through lingerie "uh aunt petunia what are u doing?" she walked over and crawled on harry's bed "oh just giving you your early birthday present". Harry was trying to crawl back but he had reached the edge of his bed. "Oh come on harry you know you want to"

Aunt petunia pulled off his boxers and started pumping him "no (beep) please (beep) stop (beep) what is that beeping".

Almost DLP approved are the author’s plans for Harry’s love life.

Indeed, be aware that some scenes aren’t suited for minors, like, for instance, in chapter four (and in every following chapter):

She then started to hum and harry cam into her mouth which started to spill out since there was so much she licked up and swallowed all she could. When she got up harry still had a hard on "well I see you aren't yet will have to change that" she took off her skirt harry got up and took off her shirt and undid her bra and attacked her breasts sucking and nipping anywhere he could (Au heres where you put in grind with me)

For the life of me, I cannot remember what the fic i'm talking about was called, but I do remember that there was a trunk, and the trunk was a time machine, and Harry's grandfather made it, thereby making it so he was rescued and alive, and Voldemorts supporters were taken out within 5 chapters, all by the trunk, and Sirius got saved, and it was awful. Worse than anything I can describe, yet awesomely so.
