Summary: A heartbreaking and heartwarming fantasy about rejection and belonging, power and consequence, and the cost of being ourselves.

Follow Saphienne through her elven childhood into adulthood, and witness the struggles that made her who she would become. See her rise and fall, lose what she cherishes and find what matters, and in the end?
Decide who she was for yourself.

    Review:

This is tragically underrated and I can't bear to see it be so obscure any longer.

    The great-
1)Prose. I am not the best at prose, but the last I felt this good/emotional from just the prose, was when reading The KingKiller Chronicle.
2)Characters. Very thoughtfully and realistically written.
3)A well written genius mc. The best execution of it I have ever seen.

    The maybe bad-
1)It is slow paced. The latest chapter brought back the pace to something reasonable, but it took a whole lot of time for power progression, if you are interested in that. Personally, I felt the pace is perfectly reasonable.
2)Magical classes that some might find boring. I personally skimmed one or two. Though most are pretty fascinating.
3)It might be a struggle to understand and you might feel out of loop sometimes, but I think everything makes sense to my dumb brain so you would do fine, just read to the end.

    5/5.

The writing is good but it's probably the slowest paced story I've ever read. I'm 60 chapters in and 1 interesting thing has happened so far.

There's too much dry explanation of a magic system that's still quite confusing and not very evocative at all.

The elf society doesn't feel like another species at all. Just feels like a human society with the social mores of today stuck in 1700s tech that feels like 1989s tech because of the magic available.

Just a disappointing work overall. The author is clearly talented at prose but spends way too long in what amounts to a prologue.
