Thanks for the link, I’d missed this one.

Hot take but the Wax and Wayne books are arguably Sanderson’s best work, aside from maybe the Stormlight Archive. Wayne is up there in the rankings for best character too.

I would agree though Sanderson has poured his heart and soul into Stormlight it can often be dragging especially the interludes, flashbacks, mental illnesses storylines. Oathbringer was a huge drag and ROW salvaged the series. Wax and Wayne is short and fun as it get with great twists. Honestly Sanderson shorter books are far better than his longer ones. Warbreaker, Emperor's Soul even Elantris is better than Mistborn 1 which particularly 2nd book was a huge drag. His Stormlight short novellas Dawnshard and Edgedancer is superb as well. My favorite character would be Lightsong from Warbreaker. I always picture the Rock as him.

I suppose even Sanderson must suffer delays every once in a while.

So the reviews are out and the running theme is: this is the book where the Cosmere really opens up. It's Sanderson's "The Avengers".

Which presents me with a conundrum. I enjoyed Mistborn Era 1 but failed to finish the first book of Mistborn Era 2. Bored me to tears.

So I am now asking myself whether I am willing to force myself through the other Wax and Wayne books just to get to The Lost Metal.
