Don't make any mistakes - no matter how it sounds from the initial summary, this fic is amazing. The author captures exquisitely the writing style of Tolkien without ever drifting into heavy-handed device. 5/5. Read it.

Pretty good. Also quite short. I would say it's library worthy at 4/5.

The lore fits, it's an interesting premise, I just found it a little boring.

Purple prose isn't always a bad thing. I quite like it in my epic fantasy, especially when it has a poetic, lyrical cant to it as Tolkein and Rothfuss do, albeit in very different ways.

This fic comes close to along Tolkein's style, although it isn't quite there yet and the excessive use of ellipses irked me.

Plot is utterly forgettable. Angsty torture porn.

This piece captures the feel of LotR in a way few fanfics do, but fails to accomplish anything much with that. This isnt a story, it's a ham sandwich.
