We should just combine a few states. Do we really need two Dakotas?

The middle states wouldn't appreciate the loss of influence. It would be in their better interest to subdivide. Besides, changing the borders would only encourage Texas to declare autonomy.

That's always been a bad meme. Texas could split into five states without asking Congress, but Texan identity is too strong to get any support for that.

Texas isn't lacking or losing representation with a further shift toward population-based representation. No, I'm thinking Near-Nebraska and Deep Nebraska. Montana and Duotana. Missouri and Muzurra. Idaho and Idunno. Get twice as many Senators in the chamber where the farmland and national parks based economies can rally support for their needs, versus the needs of the unwashed urban masses.

Can't exactly say everything's bigger in Texas if your size is no longer relevant.

Ugh Gabbard is the worst. She's an apologist for Assad and dictators around the world, was perfectly content to undermine US foreign policy by meeting with the SAA in the middle of the Syrian Civil War and came real fuckin late to the gay rights thing. I despise her top to bottom.

So you’re saying you’ll vote for Trump or 3rd Party if she’s on the ticket? :sherlock:

Beyond that he was being formally investigated for being a Russian stooge, not really.

That article is inscrutable to the lay reader. Here is a clearer reading.

Julián Castro is running for President. Pretty sure no one cares. He could've been someone's running mate in 2016 and got some attention geared towards him, and I remember there was a lot of interest around that possbility, but the momentum passed and the Dems seem way past him now. Let's see how he jumps from this into another opportunity.

Right now we got: John Delaney, Tulsi Gabbard, Elizabeth Warren, Julián Castro and Jay Inslee as confirmed. Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillbrand and Bernie Sanders are fully expected to run. And there are strong expectations that Michael Bloomberg, John Hickenlooper, Cory Booker and Beto O'Rourke might run, Hickenlooper and Bloomberg being the least likely. These are the ones that I remember. Seems like it will be a mighty crowded field.

That's a pretty good field honestly.

People I'd 100% vote for in that list:

    Delaney
    Biden
    Bloomberg
    Beto
    Hickenlooper

People who I need to see more from/don't know enough about:
    Gabbard
    Castro
    Inslee

People who will cause me to vote third party:
    Warren
    Harris
    Gillbrand
    Sanders
    Booker

I share this mainly for insight into how right leaning moderates will view that list.

I'm curious to see if there's going to be any sort of significant primary challenge to Trump. Kasich has apparently been making noises about considering it, but I'm not terribly optimistic about the chances of any of the 2016 candidates. Coming back for a rematch in the next election hasn't been the best move historically.

I would not expect the Republican ticket to be anything but Trump. His base is simply too central to Republican strategy. There's no way we're gonna see a primary upset, and I seriously doubt anyone's going to even try.

So you'd much prefer Trump be reelected than see Kamala Harris in office? Wow, that's something I guess.
