So a few months ago I got into playing poker, reading shitloads about it, I put $150 into an online account. Slowly dwindled down, went all the way down to about $50, and in the past 3 weeks I've been playing a bit and turned it back into $100. I think I'm starting to become profitable. Maybe someday I can move above $0.10/$0.25 stakes and get into what's called 'Low Stakes', instead of Micro.

I used to play pretty high (but still low stakes), and the difference between .1/.2 poker and 1/2 poker is night and day. But, 1/2 live is pretty much a free cash give away, though I usually play 2/5 (5/10 is pretty tough around here, if it runs).

That reminds me, last week Pokerstars got approval to operate in NJ, which is both good and bad. It's good, because PS software is miles ahead of the other companies, but bad because it's still going to be a segregated player pool, and the parent company, Amaya, is pretty dumb

I'm playing Limit, not NL, so maybe .1/.25 is a bit higher than in NL. Still, I once played .25/.5 and got absolutely destroyed. I went to Vegas a few months back, and did absolutely fine in 3/6 (Limit, still).

I play on Bovada, it's pretty nice. Only other one I've played on is William Hill back in England, which is a piece of shit compared to Bovada.

Bovada (formerly Bodog) is pretty great, since there's a lot of sports betters that go over and mess around with poker, and do pretty bad at it.

Limit is quite different than NH, it's true. The highest I've played limit is 6/12, and it still didn't really feel like it was that big of a game. I'm not really a fan of limit though, but I'll play limit mix game and do alright. I'm mostly a NLHE/PLO player. I used to 8 table .5/1 NLHE and make an okay amount.

TOMD so far: found out my old English teacher (and fellow HS alum) is a writer-producer for Key and Peele and is writing their sequel TV series as well. I knew he wrote for Community, but not for this!

He wrote one of my college recs. I should really say hi sometime.

Better idea: Ask him to join DLP.

TOMD: Finding out I'm the Fourth Champion posting in the Tribraggart Tournament thread. I made this face... like I was surprised and amused and genuinely touched all at once.

TOMD: Decided to sleep more than 6 hours last night for the first time in a couple of weeks, which led to taking the day off from uni and being a lazy shit all day long. It was glorious.

Thing of my day was finalising my place to start the Legal Practice Course in January, which means I'll be moving to Manchester.

The LPC builds on an academic law degree and teaches the procedural part of the law (i.e. what you actually have to do to bring a claim and win it) as well as expanding your knowledge of the law to specialist areas. I'll be studying advanced commercial litigation, international trade and insurance law as my elective specialisms. Might try to audit the debt finance course too, if I can spare the time, as it could be helpful for energy work.

    TomD:

I got hired on at GameStop as seasonal help, which is actually exciting to me, because it's relatively easy work (my more recent customer service work was as a union rep, and as a non-profit health insurance support and question person)

Also, today I uninstalled Clicker Heroes from my phone. it's an idle game, and it's the worst, and ate up so much of my time. holy shit I am so glad I never spent money on that shit.

Guys it feels really good when the numbers go up ...

Now I'm back to spending my gaming time with real titles, like Undertale! which is funny and very charming at the same time.

TOMD: Pixel lives matter. I fucked up and saved over the slot and now I don't have enough time to deal with the NPCs before one kills the other and my party freaks the fuck out and I'm right there with them, because dammit, we started the past two days together and I reloaded the third safely slot from before the hard as shit vampire battle to try and save his sorry judgmental ass from getting fried to a crisp and it's still too late, four hours IRL and one hour in-game too late, I should have ignored two earlier optional convos that ate up half an hour each, and now I have to watch the guy die again and the only thing left to do is get it over with or restart from the first safety slot which is a full two chapters and ten levels behind, and as much as it sucks I just can't bring myself to do it. RIP Ken. Your deathclock couldn't be fixed this time.

Now excuse me while I regret my digital decision-making and go off to exact revenge for my own failings, fuckdammit.

^ I've been playing this game for the better part of the past 72 hours. Not a lot of sleep in between. Kind of guilty that I value my character's growth over possibly saving an NPC when I/my party have done so... twice? already, as well as one or two others. Same way I feel when I consider which pokemon to trade/release when migrating between carts prior to starting over, sure they're just pixels and binary, but there's a connection nevertheless.
