That's his problem not yours.
TOMD: We won. I'm completely exhausted. 88% of voters in Dane County turned out. Context for non-US, that's very very very high. Got accosted by a crazy Trump person today. That was fun.
This was dangerously close to happening.
Yup. Urgh. So much partying though.
This mother fucker sitting near me brought a god damn mechanical keyboard to the library. Fuck this, I'm going to break it across this fuck's fat face.
Do you go to my school? Lmao.
Evers! Friends in Madison are very, very, very excited.
I kinda want to hear more about this.
It depends. what school do you go to?
TOMD: So I went to the urgent care a while back and my insurance company's website had a handy "Pay your doctor" link when the claim got processed so I paid my $50 copay and went on my way. Except a week or two later my mom gets a bill for $35 (I have my mailing address as my parent's home since my uni address changes a lot). I tell her I paid it (didn't realize the $$ difference at the time), so we move on.
Few weeks after that we get an insistent letter that I still owe money, and it's about to go to collection. So I get on the phone, call them, and turns out they never got the $50, and in fact they have no idea what the org on the bill I paid through my insurance is. I pay the $35 to avoid it going to collections and I call my insurance, who have no idea what I'm talking about. Looks like they somehow fucked up, billed me $15 more than they should have, and sent the money to the wrong people. Gotta love US healthcare eh?
Took a bit, but I got them to assume responsibility for the fuckup after getting in a conference call with both parties, and they said they'll look into it and get back to me.
Never using their site to pay bills ever again...
I rarely go old school, but for medical bills, pay with a check. Why? Because the bank receives an image copy of the check once the recipient endorses it and cashes it to their bank. Bitch, don't tell me you didn't get the money...
That sounds like a wonderful idea right now, might just do that from now on.
I'm still getting bills in the mail for a visit to the hospital I had two years ago. They just keep popping up. You think they're paid and then suddenly one more bill for a specialist or something comes through.
TOMD: Celebrated Diwali, listening to prayers I don't understand and eating interesting Indian food. The temple was packed to the brim. Also an interesting experience to be the only one looking different for once. I stuck out like a sore thumb, even though I covered my head with fabric (cap) like everyone else ^^
But it was fun. And everyone was smiling and eating, so I'm happy.
In two days I'll be on my way to NYC for a week. That'll be the next adventure!
I’ve never used a cheque in my life. I feel like this isn’t a precaution you should have to take haha.
The American healthcare system is great except that it sucks, insurance sucks, and medical bills are the worst. You can't be too cautious with those bastards.
Yeah, it’s an interesting trade off. The quality of care is generally great, but the cost, both financial and mental can be incredibly burdensome. Which, when you are sick, can be the straw that breaks the camels back.
I do like my single payer system, I have to say. Though it has been systematically underfunded for quite some time now. But that seems to be a worldwide pattern.
Problem with the U.S. healthcare system isn't that there's not enough money, funnily enough. The federal government puts twice as much money into healthcare than the military, it's just all gobbled up by insurance companies.
Basically it has more than enough funding but is severely mismanaged.
If only it wasn't, it really could become the best healthcare system in the world.
It's vacation time!
Part one: to Orlando in first class to go to the Wizarding world of Harry Potter. Time to get the child out
I even painted my nails in theme for this.
Make sure you get the interactive wands if you fork out the cash for them. Finding all the spots to cast spells with them makes exploring much more fun. And try to hang out around Gringotts after it gets dark. Look up and you'll see why...

Update on my insurance issue. They called back and said that they can't do anything on their end and I should call my bank to try and figure out where the money went. Pointed out that we already knew where it went, and they'd somehow told me to pay the wrong company the wrong amount, to which she said there's nothing she can do and that I can file a grievance if I want. Guess I know what I'm doing after class today...
To be honest I don't even care about the $50 that much, but the entire situation is ridiculous and I feel the need to chase it down to make sure this doesn't happen again.
