    For clarification: it's in the form of pills called thiocodin which we will crush into dust and swallow with a carbonated beverage.

    TOMD, friend came to visit for the first time since his proposal to his fiancée. Turns out he had an ulterior motive and I’m going to be a best man for the first time!

    You both look great, especially in that first pic.

    TOMD: A girl smiled at me and I asked her if she was mocking me...
    I don't know why I did that.
    This is the stuff that keeps me up at night, great stuff.

    TOMD: I saw this in a hippie enclave. I have never been so proud of a vandal as I am today.

    TOMD: Shot my bow for the first time in four years today. Had an absolute blast but couldn't aim properly because I'm way out of shape and can't hold back the 28lbs for long enough. Will start doing push-ups in the morning and before bed to fix this ASAP because there is no way in hell I'm downgrading to one of the club bows.

    EDIT: Seriously it's been six hours and my arm still hurts. I didn't even shoot that much... If any knows any other exercises beyond push-ups that they'd recommend to build up upper body strength fast I'd love some variety.

    The only thing that comes to mind (besides weights) is pull ups. Do you need core strength to also pull the bow because you could do planks if you're trying to get some variety?

    Don't think so, it's mainly arm strength to pull it back enough to align the arms/shoulders and let your bones bear the brunt.

    Can't hurt so I'll add in planks because might as well, but I don't think weights are in the cards right now. I'm finding it hard enough to force myself to go do my cardio every day, adding on regular weights will probably just lead to me not doing anything at all.

    Right yeh I forgot about the runs you do. How much are you doing nowadays? Also on the bow, I thought that bows required good posture and core strength for stability(along with upper body strength)(this is somewhat speculation on my part)? Is it just upper body or something else?

    Just keep doing it. I usually loose a few every week. It's a zen thing for me like cutting grass is.

    This last week was a wash, but before that I've been doing a run 6 days per week for the past month or so. Don't always go as full on as I'd like, but the consistency feels good.

    Good posture is an absolute must for bows yeah, but I don't know that core is used much. Once you've drawn it out you set the posture by aligning your arms/shoulders so that your skeleton bears the weight rather than the muscles. Arm strength is still required to hold it at that point, but I'm not sure how core would come in.

    Very much not an expert though, so could be wrong.

    @Zombie
    Fully intend to. I can make the open practice on Mondays and Fridays, and then more structured instruction is on Sundays. All told I have 11 hours of shooting available per week, though I doubt I'll stay for the full four hours on M/F. Very much agree on the zen like nature of it, I find it incredibly relaxing and am really looking forward to making it a regular part of my schedule.

    TOM Weekend: Went to New Orleans with a friend from work for a Korpiklaani and Eluveitie concert. Ate way too much food and had a blast.
