I recently bought an iTouch and I am looking for safe and easy ways to upload music from it to my computer (Dell XPS). I have looked around at things like copy trans but I am not sure if that's the best method.

If anyone has any advice it would be very apreciated.

Yeah I can confirm that this works. Didn't damage the iPod, and you can delete the control file once the whole thing is transferred into itunes library. Just have to make sure your ipod is in hard disk mode and you change the ipod control file, that you found in 'Hidden Files', to 'Read Only'.

Thanks guys, definitely valuable information. For some reason I can not read the website though, its just a lot of blank space in gray frames.

That's what it said. Sorry if the format got a little screwed up in the copypasta.

This works just fine if your IPod actually shows up in Windows Explorer.. If it doesn't (like mine) your kinda screwed...

/me goes to boot into Ubuntu ...

Yeah, if memory serves, the iPod needs to be in hard disk mode and detected within itunes (but not Synced - for the love of god don't sync) for it to appear in Windows Explorer. Haven't done this for a year or so but there's no real trick to it.

I've got an ITouch so it plays by different rules compared to the old ones, no hard disk mode, different DRM bullshit, etc. No telling what its problem is.

Thanks Sin, I am going to try those steps later. I, like fuubar, have an iTouch but hopefully it still works.

Ok, I just found the program that I had been using on my previous comp to transfer stuff off of my iTouch. DiskAid

Just download that and install it.

    1. Plug in the IPod.
    2. Open DiskAid.
    3. Click on "Media" in the far left pane.
    4. In the center pane there should be a folder named "iTunes_Control". Double click on it.
    5. Right click on the "Music" subfolder and hit "Copy to PC"
    6. Find the folder to copy to and proceed.
    7. Now open up iTunes and add the folder that you just copied to your computer. I'm pretty sure that you need the "manage my folders for me" option turned on as it is just making a copy of the database crap that the iPods use.
    8. Profit and give the finger to Apple! ..!..
