Do you remember the Missile Defence idea Bush had for a system of long range ballistic missile defences situated in Poland and the Czech Republic? The one Obama scrapped? That's been revised so that a shorter range one will be used instead (apparently the Polish government like it better than the old one) and signed by officials from each country, witnessed by Hillary Clinton.

Sounds pretty cool to me since it will be a good step toward securing the entirety of Europe and the US against missile attacks from Russia/China/Middle Eastern countries. Still, it's going to be expensive as all hell and that's going to raise up a shit storm from the Republicans.

Irrelevant, since the whole point of scrapping it was a gesture towards Russia, with a saving face claim towards unnecessary costs.

On foreign policy front, the only difference between Obama and Bush is that Obama has thus far been able to pacify his people while doing what any president was going to do anyway, political promises be damned. Keeping foreign terrorists in a shithole in cuba? Check. (And note, at this stage the most likely 'change' here is simply moving said shithole from Cuba to some other country, missing the point completely). Not trusting the Russians? Yep. Iraqistan... fuck, we've just gone and reinstated Bush's man to the front lines.

And that's not even touching the frankly awesome nutbusting they've been doing on terrorist cells within the country. Course, they don't really get mentioned, cause I'd bet these are all rife with questionable interrogation tactics and phone tappings and what have you.

TL;DR: The more things change, the more they stay the same.
