It's times like this I really miss being in the Navy and being able to look at incident reports. Hope it was an acceptable use of force, and if so, the Navy backs up the Commanding Officer that ordered it.

I hear that. Man, what I would've given to see what was going on in e-Chirp the day Trump said he'd "restructure" ODNI.

For those non-IC folks, e-Chirp is essentially Twitter on the high side. It was intended to be an information sharing platform, but like all social media devolved into memes and pissing contests. It is, however, a somewhat useful tool to gauge the pulse of the IC to see what the worker bees are thinking and not necessarily what the policy makers are saying. And before OPSEC Wizard says something, this is all public knowledge.

It's a good source for breaking stuff that would normally take a week or so to work it's way through like 3 iterations of an admiral's staff brief and be chopped all to hell. Also for finding stuff on high side because searching blindly is apparently horrendously painful.

    Ok.

Perspicacity IS THE WORLD FUCKED? Is there any chance the nukes will malfunction? Will a malfunction in any small percentage of nukes matter? Do you know much about this?

Reading the article it just sounds like Trump isn't caring enough to clarify anything to the NNSA so they have no idea really about their future in terms of leadership. The guys in charge right now are saying they are willing to continue working until a replacement is found, it's just that Trump hasn't said if he wants them to nor has he told them to leave. The assumption is that they have to leave on the 20th.

If he tells them to fuck off and doesn't nominate a replacement, the department will still function as a whole. Though they will have to defend their budget without any leadership (Is that possible?) and they won't really be able to start up new projects.

The U.S. nuclear stockpile is safe, secure, and reliable; this won't change (in the near future, at least) with the transition of power in Washington no matter what the hyperbole and scaremongering might suggest.

However, without strategic investment in infrastructure, facilities, and workforce, it's unclear for how long it will remain as such. A leadership vacuum would not be good for the complex since there's no way to advocate on Capitol Hill without an administrator to set priorities and speak for the agency. Moreover, as noted, new initiatives (and there are several in the works) cannot legally be started. Worse, existing programs have a tendency to become highly risk-averse since we have no idea what our budgets will look like coming out of continuing resolution (which will run at least until the end of April for the fiscal year, which began Oct. 1).

This is perhaps the worst time for this part of the government to go into hibernation mode as we're facing a daunting demographics problem with senior staff retiring/leaving and our being unable in this climate to staff up quickly enough with new hires. This bodes ill for long-term competitiveness, readiness, and agility. While (as I'm told by colleagues in the business) it's not as bad as the bloodletting in the intelligence communities, it's troubling nonetheless.

This is no surprise; Trump has been an anti-vaxer for ages.

One expects that homeopathic remedies will be the focus of his health plan.

After a while, that'll probably bring the cost down. And the amount of greenhouse gases expelled. And the US population. Can't have an omelette without breaking a few eggs and all. Plus, coffin manufacturing will go through an unprecedented small boom (in recent history). What's not to love?

Highly recommend reading this for all of you, as it's incredibly enlightening especially as the time of the reports progresses and you remember things about the election cycle. While some of the news cycle will focus on "kompromat" they may have on Trump given some of it included golden showers on the bed used by the Obama's, I would argue that's
one of the smaller issues from it.

The sheer time length that the report claims Trump has been involved with them is staggering, with it saying it goes back nearly five years. Then there's the sheer depths of cooperation it claims was between the Trump campaign and Russian agents in the DNC leaks, with it going so far as to say the Trump campaign funneled money to some of those operatives involved, along with in general the campaign messaging and secret meetings between them.

One of the focuses was on diverting attention away from the Ukraine and Crimea, and instead focusing on the NATO payments. Another was that apparently a deal had been arranged where by in exchange for the removal of Russian economic sanctions from the invasion of Ukraine, that Trump would be given a significant stake in Rosneft.

The report also mentions that Trump's dealings in Asia such as China were considerably deeper, and much more explicit so there was at one point a relief that Russia was dominating the headlines as it concealed his dealings elsewhere where his fingerprints were more visible.

Notably I'm reminded of this article, which I'd also recommend you read. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...ion-donald-trump-faces-foreign-donor-fundrai/

The link at the top also has a brief snapshot of everyones favourite Green candidate, Jill Stein.

Shakespeare couldn't have written a screenplay with more irony. But if the the allegations(or even if they don't) prove to be true, Mr.Putin deserves a tip of the hat. He has managed to delegitimize the American election and president so thoroughly that at this point it's almost irrelevant weather Trump has actually been compromised.

One particular aspect of it, perhaps. Other parts of the report are far less personally (to Trump) damning, yet a fair bit more worrying. (The collusion, repeated meetings, and of course the other blackmail options.) But those things don't sell news, because piss is bad and this is humiliating and who cares if it might be fake news (see about 80 % of Clinton's coverage in 2016), it's a ~~scandal~~. :colbert:

Meanwhile, the arch-conservative GOP flunkies are rubbing their wrinkled hands in unrestrained glee behind closed doors. Either Trump adheres to their GOP orthodoxy or he's out in disgrace (or, if you will, fired), and replaced by one of their own. If they do that, they can point to this as saying that they did drain the swamp, and that plus incumbency plus Dem incompetence means another six years of full GOP control and another decade of gerrymandering the House to the point of being unoustable from power bar Obama '08 levels of wave.

For those who are interested, you can read the Office of Government Ethics financial disclosure reports for Trump's cabinet nominees here.
