    Raising the Dead has generally been stamped out by the Hallows. I know there's a piece about not being able to conjure food or at the very least nutritious food in terms of transfiguration.

    What else could be inferred as being impossible in regards to magic in the Harry Potter Universe? By Book 7 we know Voldemort had achieved flight without the use of any instruments or devices.

    So is Death the primary exclusion in terms of magic or are there other actions we can judge as being impossible? Just curious how much was actually left open/possible in Canon.

    I would assume virtually anything else would be possible, though there isn't a spell for everything in the present day. There's a thread about the five exceptions to Gamp's Law of Transfiguration.

    Limits of magic or limits of witchcraft and wizardry? Because even stuff like the prohibition against creating good food out of nothing is a limitation specific to transfiguration.

    The capabilities of Witchcraft and Wizardry I suppose. What can we assume is impossible for Wizards and Witches to create/enchant/cast etc;

    Magic cant make a corpse immune to fire, that seems to be the only true limit except for the inability to resurrect the dead.

    This is from the WizardingWorld article about Inferi

    I’m fairly certain it cannot make someone truly immortal. Even the closest measures, such as the Elixir of Life and Horcruxes have ways that can be circumvented.

    I'm pretty sure no Witchcraft or Wizardry can create True Love.

    It can't make Rowling stop retconning that's for sure. Jokes aside, Magic in the Potterverse is pretty limited compared to other fiction. In Potterverse Magic is extremely flamboyant but not that powerful, you can't reverse entropy, manipulating time requires objects and even at that it can't go back that far (Cursed Child be damned), classical elements can be manipulated, things can be animated but Magic cannot overcome Magic (as Rowling said) so it's only a manipulation of the mundane.

    I think she means that magic cannot completely override other magic in the way that it can with non-magical things. Magic can still be developed to resist other magics, such as the shield charm.
