    Ok, I was reading a few fanfics the other day, and I just remembered a question that has been biting at me for quite a while now. What exactly, is the difference between Apparition and Disapparition?

    I always assumed that it was when you want to go somewhere, it is called apparition, but when you are leaving the place, you call it disapparition. But isn't leaving someplace the same as going to another place?

    I figured if anyone could answer my question, it would be you guys.

    In that thing you call a closet. Better watch out,
    I think the wizard who is apparating would call it apparition, but perhaps the person who is watching him would say he dissaparated. So, I guess, it is determined by the point of view.

    Disapparate = To disappear
    Apparate = To appear

    I'm going to go with the point of view position. To the character he/she is always apparating somewhere. To everyone else the character disapparates from the area.

    That's it in a nutshell. Los Fuegos, please take special note of how these terms are spelled.

    Following are some excerpts from my own Potter Rules.

    4: ---------------------------------------

    A: -------------------------------------
    B: Apparation is a magical method of traveling. An apparition is a ghost. This being the case, there's no such thing as disapparition (and no, exorcism could not be considered disapparition). Know the difference.
    6: From your point of view, if someone just teleported to where you are, they APPARATED. If you saw someone just teleport away to another location, they DISAPPARATED.

    There is a difference between arriving and leaving.

    That's like asking "what is the difference between "going towards" and "going away from" something.

    What's the difference between "glass half empty" and "glass half full" ?

    If you've been drinking it then it's half empty, if you've been filling it up then it's half full. Same with Apparation/Disapparation. When you leave the place it's called disapparating...(I think, all this apparation talk is making my head spin), and when you arrive at the place you have Apparated.
