Just being curious, but what do the numbers (eg. X: X, where X are numbers) that show up under a person's rep-bar after you've just repped/negrepped him/her mean?

If it's the amount of rep the person's post have, why does it usually show 0: 0? Seeing as I have 1 rep power, shouldn't it show something along the lines of 1: 1 or -1: -1?

I don't have a clue and I've been wondering the same myself. I just couldn't be bothered asking or I'd forget all about it.

Whoever it is that repped me as a test, I received 7 reputation points. Does this bit of info help in your test?

From what I understand, for example, if person has 195 rep points (1 rep power) and you have 6 rep power, if you rep him, he'll have 201 rep points (2 rep power), so 1:2 will appear on that persons rep bar.

If he/she has 146 rep points and you rep him/her, making the persons rep points 152, 1:1 will appear on persons rep bar, which means that your rep didn't give him/her enough power to reach 200 points (2 rep power).

    Am I making any sense?

I gave someone a new rep power a couple times and I think Marie is right.

X:Y where X = rep power before your rep points were added and Y = rep power after your rep points were added.

Ah, I see. That makes sense indeed. Thanks, people.
