I'm trying to find a fic that I'm sure I've read on ff.net several times.

Harry has been raised (adopted?) in France. He has an annoying younger brother and attends Beauxbatons. He's had a rocky friendship with Fleur over the years, though the author was heading toward a romance. Harry also has a good relationship with Gabrielle.

In the fic, Harry is a poised and careful young man, who's attending his final year at Beauxbatons. He is very skilled at creating magical devices, and gifts Gabrielle with an enchanted compass that will help her get to her classes and find friends and family.

Fleur is supposed to be a teacher, though the fic never progressed far enough to see her teach a class. Fleur was severely injured (in the Triwizard, iirc) and it was during her lengthy recovery that her and Harry's friendship rebuilt itself.

The first chapter opened with Harry and his younger brother leaving their home and mother, and setting off in a carriage bound for Beauxbatons. Harry is annoyed at his younger brother (and a friend) for talking about Fleur disrespectfully.

Overall, the writing skills on display in this fic were superb, but the author hadn't written many chapters.

Does anyone recognise this fic?

Lol. No joke. I thought it might be a DLP'ers, but I wasn't sure whose. I kept on thinking it was Nuhuh's, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Write some damn more of that. It's too good to leave it there.

 

Oh yes, I remember that fic. Awesome stuff. Obviously dead though.

 

Sigh. Why did I read the chapter... Now I want to continue reading more.
