    Okay, hypothetical scenario:

You discover a spellbook that will gift you with the ability to perform 5 Harry Potter spells, potions, skills or talents and no more. What spells do you choose?

You do not need a wand.

Actually, I think it'd be more fun to split this into 2 scenarios: in the first, you're the only person who has found the book, in the second, you have to take into account that your fellow DLPers have also found it (and so you might want to consider spells that defend you from magic as well).

Just to be clear, you're not allowed to pick an entire branch of magic such as "transfiguration" or even a sub-branch such as "human transfiguration". You can, however, pick single skills that encompass this, such as metamorphmagus or animagus.

    Mine:

    1.

    Apparation
    Legilimency
    Metamorphmagus
    Philosopher's Stone
    Imperius

    2.

    Apparation
    Shield Charm
    Metamorphagus
    Philosopher's Stone
    Occlumency

Stuff I dearly wanted but couldn't have: Voldemort's flying spell, transfiguration spells (unfortunately, just one of these is a bit useless), healing spells (same with this), strengthening potion, expansion charm, cleaning charm, tidying charm, summoning charm, impervius charm, flame-freezing charm, protean charm, fun curses, animagus.

    Ah dear. Choices choices.

    1. Apparition.
    2. Summoning charm.
    3. Imperius.
    4. Metamorphagus.
    5. Legilimency.

Can apparate over needing a shield charm imo.

I have no real wish to live forever. Life would get boring fast.

    1.
    Apparation
    Disillusionment charm
    Metamorphmagus
    Legilimency
    Imperius

Explanation:Apparation for travel, Disillusionment charm for sneaking around, Metamorphmagus for blending in, Legilimency for information gathering, Imperius because it would be useful in some situations. (Think: The ability to control your boss to give you a pay raise and easier tasks. Yes, I am a sloth.)

    2.
    Crucio
    Apparation
    Shield charm
    Disillusionment charm
    Occlumency

Explanation: Apparation for travel, Crucio for torturing and as a primary battle spell, Shield for obvious reasons, Disillusionment for sneaking around, and Occlumency to counter Legilimency.

    1. Time travel (time turner)
    2. Invisibility (cloak)
    3. Metamorphmagus
    4. Apparition
    5. Philosopher's Stone

I'd be happy with just the time turner. No more staying up all night studying, or driving like a maniac to get from school to an extracurricular on time.... *sigh*

    3) Invisibility Cloak.
    4) Imperius Curse.
    5) Peter Pettigrew's blasting curse (for when those armed forces just won't say no).

    2. 1) Apparation
    2) Protego charm
    3) Metamorphmagus
    4) Philosopher's Stone
    5) Imperius Curse

    1. Metamorphmagus.
    2. Imperio.
    3. Philophersers Stone.
    4. Animagus, if I can choose the animal then an Eagle or Hawk.
    5. Legilimancy.

In situation 2. (Is it sad that we wouldn't start helping each other take over the world?)

    The same set.
I've always been a run away kinda' guy. If I'm outclasses, I can always just run.

You might find it hard to run away when we all have apparation and you don't :p

Eh, I don't think I'd want to be a Metamorphmagus that much ... I'm quite content as I am, and for not being recognized there's the Invisibility Spell. So:

    1. Apparition
    2. Legilimency
    3. Invisibility Spell
    4. Imperius Curse
    5. Obliviate

And I can do anything I like, with anything and anyone I want, and no one will remember, if I don't want them to ... oh, the possibilities :awesome

    1. Killing Curse
    2. That silver shield Voldemort used in OotP
    3. Apparition
    4. Invisibility Spell
    5. Legilimency

Bring it on, bitches :p I'd have wanted the fire-whip, just because it so damn cool, but the Killing Curse is faster.

    1) Apparition
    2) Imperius
    3) Wolf animagus
    4) Some form of an explosion spell
    5) Legilimency

Same thing for number 2, I don't really think I need to change anything.

I'm not much of a fighter or a manipulator but I am lazy so:

    1. Apparation or Portkey
    2. Philosopher's Stone (Don't care about immortality, but free gold is nice)
    3. Cleaning Charm (Yeah, I'm lazy enough to choose a Cleaning Charm over something more cool)
    4. Animagus
    5. Time Turner

I'd choose the same, even if the other members can choose to: I'll just apparate to some foreign location, and live my life in luxury with the gold from the Philosopher's Stone.

It's interesting how peoples' choices all revolve around either making life easier for themselves or being powerful. No one seems interested in just having a good time lol.

    Here's my "having fun" combination:

    1. Philosopher's stone (gives you all the riches you need to have fun, plus all the time you want to have said fun).

    2. Cheering charm. Be able to make yourself and others instantly happy.

    3. Euphoria elixir. Induced euphoria.

    4. Imperius. If others need convincing to come have a good time with you.

    5. Flying spell. That's gotta be pretty damn fun.

I would have put Felix Felicis on there but you can only use it a couple of times.

Oh, I wouldn't say that -- I thought, there was plenty of fun to be had in the normal world, and I'd simply use magical means to get it. I mean, if you can go anywhere you like and do anything you want, without such irritating trifles like money or laws ... that sounds very much like fun for me.

E.g. I'd always found the perfect crime a fascinating thing -- now if I had Apparition and Invisibility (and a Memory Charm if something goes wrong); really, my complete first combo, I'd probably start plotting and go robbing the best secured bank in the world, without leaving any trace behind.

    That's what the Animagus is.

I didn't pick Apparation because I find the journey to be the best part about travelling.

And mine is for having fun...

There's travelling and then there's travelling. Those who say that the journey is the best part about travelling have obviously never had to commute to work, live hours away from their friends or go through a series of buses and trains to get to a decent place to shop.

I wouldn't need to work if I had the Philophersers Stone. Therefore, I would be travelling the world.

    1. Philosopher's stone. (The Obvious one)
    2. Ability to make portkeys. (No danger of splinching. Which is especially dangerous when there's nobody to put you back together...) Oh, and there's no ward against it. :p
    3. Legilimancy.
    4. Time Travel. (I figure there has to be some other method of doing it, especially if the give the turners out to kids.) Imagine being able to relive awesome moments in history.
    5. Invisibility Spell

Not sure what'd I'd do if other DLPers had it, but Occlumency would definitely be on that list.
